That looked like a lot of throws to Smith and Goedert... 🤔. They were on pace for career years... before AJ's first cryptic tweet came out. Since then, their numbers have fallen off, and Brown's have gone up more. And the offense has looked disjointed and discombobulated.

Just me speaking but I hate quotes like that in situations like this. Barkley says practices are great but game day sucks. Davis is saying practices need new energy. Someone puts up a random good vibes bunny blowup. Seems like everyone just searching for something.

I just want to point out that a lot of times, one of the biggest jumps for QBs is from Year 1 to Year 2. Part of that is that things they were unsure how to prepare for in year 1, when their heads are swimming with information, they get a chance to prepare better for in year 2, especially during second year offseason. For some reason, Eagles fans don't think this would also apply to first time coordinators, and if they don't have everything prepared and looking like Ben Johnson by game 9, they're trash, incapable of learning, incapable of growth, and will never get better no matter how many years they are in the league. Isn't that weird? Personally, after watching this season, I believe that if Brian Johnson got a second year with our offense, it would have been notably better. However, because the result of Kellen Moore was a Super Bowl (largely due to the defense carrying the team for the majority of the year, the result of which is the exact opposite of what happened to Brian Johnson), the result is inarguable, and so it'll never be discussed from a serious standpoint. The funniest part is we have one of the best examples of a coach improving over time in our history, that being Andy Reid and watching him win multiple Super Bowls with the Chiefs, and people still consider it impossible.

It's funny how Philadelphia Fans use the same arguments to bash Sirianni that they are absolutely livid about the media using to bash Jalen Hurts. I really don't like fans of our team, because Eagles fans are so narrative heavy: If they like you, NOTHING is your fault. If they dislike you, EVERYTHING is your fault. And they'll use the exact same reasoning as blame or absolving of blame depending on how they feel. My sincere impression is after 2023, the city will never like Sirianni unless he becomes Kyle Shanahan schematically, and the way Hurts has been healthy he'll pretty much never get a chance to show that they're just an awful matchup for each other from a schematic perspective. The vast majority of other coaches would have let Jalen sink in his offense based on ego and just drafted another QB, Sirianni let someone else handle it. Everyone uses that to assert he's the worst schematic coach in the history of the game, even though they've only ever seen him work with 1 QB, it's exhausting. Part of me wishes we fire Sirianni at this point not because I think he's a bad coach, but just so the fanbase will shut the F up and stop with the 2023 PTSD. It has been by far the least enjoyable period to talk about Eagles football, despite winning a Super Bowl throughout the period. I never thought I'd see the fanbase so spoiled before we won the SB for the first time.

All the good vibe talk is a bit concerning. It's an always-present landmark on the road to collapse. Just past this on the horizon is the players only meeting and then beyond that is the vote of confidence in coach and QB.

It's back up to -2.5. Opened at that. Went to -1.5, Back at -2.5. Eagles. I don't think he is playing. He will be limited to shotgun only and even though they likely want to run a bunch, he needs both hands on every handoff. With a big glove and brace(?) on it. Seems foolish. I don't think he is playing. Guess we will see.

Bears disaster. Braden Mann punted five times for an average of 47.4 yards and 4.36 hangtime. Three reached the 4.5 second mark. Two were hit outside the numbers. Tory Taylor punted three times for Chicago. He averaged 38.0 yards and 3.91 hangtime. None were in the air for at least 4.5 seconds. One was hit outside the numbers. The better statistical day goes to Mann, putting his mark at 10-2 on the year. Through twelve games, Mann is averaging 49.0 yards and 4.55 hangtime with 62% at 4.5 seconds and 63% hit outside the numbers. Opposing punters are averaging 44.7 yards and 4.32 hangtime with 37% at 4.5 and 49% hit outside the numbers. Massive statistical edge for the Eagles. Snap to foot times were around 2.0 for the Eagles and around 2.1 for the Bears. Jake Elliott kicked off three times. He averaged 59.7 yards (basically irrelevant) with an average starting field position of 29.7. Cairo Santos kicked off five times for the Bears. He averaged 62.4 yards and 26.6. On the season Elliott is averaging 59.1/28.4. Opposing kickers are averaging 60.4/27.8. So the Eagles are about a half yard worse per kickoff, which can accumulate over a game. Definitely at a disadvantage in this phase. Snap to foot times on placekicks were about 1.27 for the Eagles and maybe 1.40 for the Bears. The Bears were kinda slow in general, both on kicks and punts. Elliott missed a critical PAT (which I had predicted about a half hour earlier..."the Eagles are gonna get a touchdown and then miss the PAT") and was 1 of 2 on field goal attempts from distances with an expected value of 1.31. On the season, he's now 12-of-16 from distances with an EV of about 10.97. This means he's +1.03 which translates to about 3.1 points. Elliott's Elo Kicking Rating dropped to 2283, which ranks twenty-first and is -0.15 STD from the mean. The league average is 2293. The rating of Eagles Opponents improved to 2314, which would rank thirteenth. That's +0.32 STD from the mean. Elliott's average attempt distance is a whopping 45.9, which is about five yards longer than the league average. Overall he's had a reasonably solid year but it's worth noting that he's missed a few of late. The Top Five Kickers after Week 13 are Folk (2422, +1.96); Boswell (2408, +1.75); Aubrey (2403, +1.67); Dicker (2401, +1.64); and McLaughlin (2382, +1.35). The Bottom Five Kickers are/were Ryland (2219, -1.13); Fitzgerald (2218, -1.14); Mevis (2215, -1.19); Smyth-PS (2213, -1.22); and Moody (2163, -1.98). Other stuff (not much): It was a windy day so both teams regularly used holders on their kickoffs. Britain's first punt return of the season was a scary affair. He picked up a bouncing ball in a somewhat dangerous position. He ended up saving the Eagles about ten yards of field position however, so it worked out okay. Cameron Latu was flagged for a false start on an Eagles punt. Elliott's onside kick attempt late in the game wasn't a particularly good one. I didn't think the Bears snapper was particularly good. Not that it really mattered much but I hated the decision to NOT attempt a 57-yard field goal with 24 seconds left in the game. Instead they ran a play which ultimately took the clock down to 13 seconds. Granted they gained five yards to make it a shorter attempt but the TIME is the bigger factor there. It's a long field goal either way but those eleven seconds could be HUGE if you miraculously recover the subsequent onside kick. You could actually get a couple of quick throws to the sideline which could put you in position to reach the endzone on a Hail Mary. The way the Eagles played it, it's unlikely that a Hail Mary would have ever even had a chance. Granted Elliott missed the kick anyway so it's all a moot point. But I thought the intent was all wrong.
