Well, the offense was good in 2023 until they played the 49ers (as you kind of alluded to). I don't think they got figured out, I honestly believe that carrying that horrific defense finally took its toll. After that 49ers loss, the team as a whole was awful and they lost their confidence. Still, AJ statistically had one of his 2 best seasons here with 106 rec, 1456 yds, 7 TDs and 2nd team AP. This years offense is definitely worse imo, the only difference is now we don't have a 32 ranked defense allowing opponents to score on almost every possession.

Yep, I like the way you put it. No one is trying to say "Barkley sucks and Tank is the next big thing." 17 carries is a poor sample size. But it's enough that nearly everyone has noticed the running game has been a bit more effective and explosive with his carries. It's enough that they need to dive into all their reps for a better understanding. Maybe Barkley is getting caught in the backfield with too much big game hunting, maybe he's not doing a good enough job running through contact compared to last year, or maybe defenses are just stacking the crap out of the box when he's in the backfield. But something is different. And if it is all defenses stacking the box against Barkley, why aren't we passing at a higher clip when he's on the field?

I agree, but they're divisional rivals and could make it very complicated for the Rams.

I believe the offensive issues are more complicated than "Patullo is a moron" and frankly anyone who thinks it's that simple is also a moron. But there's no denying that the coaching is a significant factor. That 3rd and long play to Granson was a designed play. To your 3rd TE. Who isn't even good and probably would be unemployed if the Eagles released him. Them using Calcaterra a ton to block when he may be the worst blocking TE in football is coaching malpractice. Running 4 hitch routes on 3rd and longs is bad coaching. I think a lot of people are stuck in the "Is it the players or the coaching?" mindset, and the answer is it's both. Sometimes there are plays to be made and the players aren't making them. Other times there are no plays to be made because the coaching is poor. Put that all together and you have the highest paid offense in the NFL playing like a bottom 5 unit.

It's hard to say, but to me one thing is clear. When they dropped the RPO option the run game died. Just gives more credence to Jalen's role in the success of Swift, Sanders, and Barkley. I get why they're not doing it as much as Jalen has been hurt nearly every season, so they aren't doing it as much. Still, they need to figure how to run a more effective offense with the pieces they have. Why not some roll outs or bootleg options. clearly the line is also struggling. AJ looks a step slower and Hurts isn't as accurate lately. Find ways to spread his thing around and become more effective. Nevertheless, they are 8-2 and first in the conference, having knocked of two teams the national media told us were better than them. They basically own all tie breakers and control their own destiny. KP is probably not qualified for the job he has, but there is no chance the Eagles make any moves until the offseason and if they find a way to win the SB again, then I see no shot he gets replaced unless some time hires him as their HC.

Top 5 money? He's 11th amongst QBs, and the 10 in front of him haven't won a SB. And its bc of this why we have enough talent for him to be a game manager. The rest is agree on.

To be fair, he had no leverage on Gannon because it was a last game of the season collapse, and he was leaving anyway which is what caused part of the collapse (combined with the terrible field). I think like I said, there's a lack of discipline and it comes from the FO down. 15% less friendly probably results in a drastic improvement. People rarely understand this, but even though coaches like Tom Coughlin were too harsh, they also had a point, that discipline in the game really matters.

I don't need Jalen to put up big passing numbers. I need to see the wins. With that being the case to me it looked like the team was forcing the ball to AJ and I didn't see a guy going all out to make plays. So, something will have to give this offseason. We need a new OC, or a new QB, or a new WR 2, because it doesn't seem like these three can coexist anymore. I wish they would get an OC like Fangio. An older guy who has no interest in becoming a head coach.

The Birds main opposition for repeating is the OC. We've seen this before. Gannon cost a SB. This is not a strong suit of the HC, holding his staff accountable.

Phillips is making himself a lot of money so far for the Eagles. He's been delivering and the two guys in the middle are looking even more dominant, and Ojomo has been solid all season too. Suddenly this defense looks elite level.
