Rush Limbaugh, stage 4 lung cancer

Rush Limbaugh says his lung cancer is terminal

New York (CNN Business)Rush Limbaugh, the conservative talk show radio host, is battling stage 4 lung cancer and said Monday he's had a setback in his prognosis.

"The scans did show some progression of cancer," he told listeners of his radio show. He later added: "It's not dramatic, but it is the wrong direction."
The 69-year-old was diagnosed with lung cancer in February.
Limbaugh said his doctors changed his medications in "hopes of keeping additional progression at bay for as long as possible." Prior to this week's update, he said that cancer "had been reduced, and it had become manageable."
"It's tough to realize that the days where I do not think I'm under a death sentence are over," Limbaugh said. "Now, we all are, is the point. We all know that we're going to die at some point, but when you have a terminal disease diagnosis that has a time frame to it, then that puts a different psychological and even physical awareness to it."
Limbaugh has been hosting "The Rush Limbaugh Show" in national syndication for more than 30 years. He is a Republican party icon and a close ally of President Trump's. Trump appeared on his show two weeks ago in lieu of the canceled second presidential debate.
He renewed his contact with the syndication company Premiere Radio Networks in early January. Specific terms weren't released.

Karma sure is a ****.

Rush Limbaugh denied smoking risks in 2015: ‘Smokers aren’t killing anybody’

"Smokers aren’t killing anybody,” the conservative host declared in an April 2015 segment of the "Rush Limbaugh Show,” then argued that tobacco users should be thanked because their purchases generate tax dollars that fund children’s health care programs.

"I’m just saying there ought to be a little appreciation shown for them, instead of having them hated and reviled,” Limbaugh said. "I would like a medal for smoking cigars, is what I’m saying.”

That's too bad.  I haven't followed this much but sounds like he has non small cell type.  Now a days they try to find the mutation and give you the chemo that works best for that mutation,  or bio markers they call them.  He went into a trail that he had to stop, then standard treatment, and now he'll be starting another one.  You also don't have to be a smoker/former smoker to catch this type of lung disease.  The small cell type is mostly from heavy tobacco use.  This one only has 2 stages.  Limited (meaning it's only in your lung), or extensive which means it's already spread to other organs.  Mr. Di had the small cell and was diagnosed in the extensive stage just a year ago.

Yeah, smoking is bad and it killed him.  We did not blame him though because we loved him.  When he broke down to blame himself, we assured him that we were not angry with him, that he lived his life the way he wanted to.  His choice, everyone takes risks, and everyone knows the risks.  In the end, it's your choice and to be angry about it is a waste of time when you're going thru treatment to calm things down and bide yourself more time with your loved ones.  How we were living was more important than how long we had.  The only way was a day at a time.  If there is a silver lining to covid it's that we were all together.  That time together was and always will be special to me and our kids.

F Cancer is right.  Sending Rush the best, but when you get progression so soon it's not good news, and when it's goes to your brain, you're done.

Remember where you are.

Would it be possible for you to forget how to get here?

I agree but still. Those were some messed up comments above.

I agree, I never wish death on people I hate, I wish them a long miserable life

It is hard to sympathize with someone that smoked and knew the consequences.

Yeah right. Until til you lose someone you love who smokes.   You’re being small.

I don’t think the problem was that he smoked.  I think the problem was that he argued that smoking had no impact on a person’s health.

Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

He complained about people who complained about the tobacco laws because he smoked.

Also, president Trump gave him a medal for it in front of the Congressional body.

Honestly, I don’t care that he smoked.  And I went to smoke-filled bars for years by choice.

But he was also an apologist for tobacco companies and tried to downplay the impact of second-hand smoke.  There’s lots of past footage of him talking about smoking that’s posted on the internet if people are interested in watching it.

Indeed.

And lung cancer is a b**** to deal with if it gets bad.

I also can't stop thinking the 2 weeks since he was in contact (I believe, if it wasn't virtual) with Trump, who almost assuredly didn't wear a mask, on his show back when he was infectious, adds another wrinkle to this.  Covid on top of advanced Lung Cancer?  Yikes.
