Update: hired by Lions

It is being reported that former KC and Cleveland GM John Dorsey has been working in some capacity as a consultant here in Philadelphia.  Interesting little nugget.  Howie may not be getting fired but perhaps Dorsey will have a larger role in talent evaluation, similar to the role Douglas had.

It's a start at least, but we still need more. Howie will still call the shots and ignore advice.

That is certainly the concern.  I’ve always wondered how much Howie goes with his own evaluations over recommendations from those doing the scouting.

I said this was the worst case scenario before...another babysitter and future fall guy for our GM.

If a GM needs a babysitter, he shouldn’t be a GM.

Probably more than we'll ever know.

The only way it works is if Howie concedes full control over talent evaluation.  If he still has final say then we’re still at square one.

And of course, he'll keep final say because it gives him the ability to take credit for all the decent picks, while passing the buck for all the bad ones.

seems cleveland was more than glad he's gone from their team, guy has a lot of draft misses, alot more misses than hits

Basically Lurie hired a part-time babysitter but the baby is still in charge of things.  That's not going to get it done.

This has Andy Reid’s fingerprints all over it and I think he was GM in Kansas City when Doug was there.

He drafted Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce but KC had cap issues and he was supposed to be a dick to work with.  He also drafted Baker Mayfield and Nick Chubb in Cleveland but barely lasted two years as GM.

He is a hell of an evaluator of talent.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to pick Jefferson over Reagor or  Metacalf over JJ.
Hopefully, Dorsey will Tell Howie he's wrong when he tries to pick Reagor over Jefferson.

Sanders, Goedert, Sweat, Big V, Mailata.  Not a long list but also can’t pretend he has never hit on a pick.

This is the worst case scenario. Looks like Howie is here to stay again. Dorsey has tons of misses.

Browns fans were so happy to lose him.

So you’ve moved on from strawmen to false dichotomies. It’s like we’re watching you grow before our very eyes. Way to go kid!

And now being reported that Dorsey is leaving to take a position with Detroit.

I was just coming on to post this.  It’s pretty upsetting honestly.  I was really hoping we had someone who could actually evaluate talent in howies ear. Now we’re back to nowhere again

So Howie doesn't get fired and Dorsey is now with the Lions. Which means once again it'll be Howie having most say on picks. Great.

But don't worry guys, some of those picked 1-5 will be on our radar. And Howie will like those players a lot and it'll just be unfortunate that they were picked before we got on the clock.

Howie was going to have that final say regardless.

And now it's back to the same minds responsible for last year's draft alone.

The Eagles will cycle through personnel guys on an annual or bi-annual basis, as Howie is the king and no one ever has a chance to advance above him. It is what it is.

It sucks, but the only positive, is it leaves Howie with no where to hide. His shield is gone.
