During a press conference, Metro police said they believe the explosion was an "intentional act," however the FBI has taken over as the lead in the investigation. Federal agents say the bureau has not yet determined the motive or if the explosion was in fact intentional. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is also assisting with K-9s.

Pre-recorded gunshots followed by a recording telling people an explosion was imminent and to evacuate the area. Doesn't seem to be your run-of-the-mill terrorism. Speculation that the AT&T building was the target.

Just before the blast, witnesses in the area reported a dire warning coming from the RV: "Evacuate now. There is a bomb. A bomb is in this vehicle and will explode."

Then, the voice started a 15-minute countdown.

Officers were conducting door-to-door checks in the area and redirected a man walking his dog along the street. The force of the explosion knocked an officer to the ground and gave another officer what police hope is temporary hearing loss. Three people were hospitalized with injuries, police said.

Stay safe if your near the area

Thanks, we're safe. I'm about 20 minutes from downtown. Seems like they targeted the AT&T building. The RV was parked there since yesterday.

From a law enforcement standpoint, I’d start looking at disgruntled employees/people pissed at ATT/whoever else is in that building.

It’s not an act of terrorism. If it were it would have been done during the day and around people. One guy. Probably white.

What about the supposed woman's voice saying to evacuate?

what the hell is wrong with people?  :nonono:

We have had our share of domestic bomber maniacs over the years.  But none of them gave out a warning.  As wackadoodle as this person must be, at least he/she has some sort of respect for human life (giving out a 15 minute warning is probably the only reason no lives were lost)

This person will be caught no doubt.  You cant pull this type of sheete off anymorw.  To many cameras

Maybe.  Or maybe he was trying to bring in first responders so they'd be killed in the blast.  Either way, this guy blew up one of my favorite drinking towns on Christmas and that makes me enormously displeased.

I’m guessing some kind of recording he pulled off of a movie/the internet/text to speech program.

Yeah, if he was trying to bring in first responders he would have used a secondary in a crowded area.

Fire/EMS don’t respond to even the most minor of incident scenes unless it’s secured by the cops. Some guy got stabbed and is a minute from death and the bad guy was confirmed by witnesses to have left the scene? Cool we’ll arrive after the cops get there and let us know it’s safe. Cops get there first. And no cop ever is going to go "you know, this voice from this RV is saying a bomb is going to go off and there’s a countdown clock going. Better go walk right the F up to it.”

He was targeting a business in the building.
