Impeachment, Round II

Three House Democrats to introduce article of impeachment against Trump

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/impeachment-democrats-introduce-articles-trump/

Quote

The article of impeachment accuses the president of "willfully inciting violence against the Government of the United States." While Congress was counting the Electoral College votes, the article says that Mr. Trump, addressing supporters nearby, "willfully made statements that encouraged — and foreseeably resulted in — imminent lawless action at the  Capitol."

"Incited by President Trump, a mob unlawfully breached the Capitol, injured law enforcement personnel, menaced Members of Congress and the Vice President, interfered with the Joint Session's solemn constitutional duty to certify the election results, and engaged in violent, deadly, destructive, and seditious acts," the article says.

This is a good start. I hope that 1/3rd of the Republicans who made stirring speeches retain enough balls or ovaries to bring the hammer down.

Read the earliest the senate would get to it is the 19th.  By the time a vote would come to the floor Biden will be President.

Impeachment does fun stuff like preventing you from ever running for office again.

He would also lose his pension, lifetime health insurance and access to secret service protection for life (which is probably the thing he would have wanted the most).

No if it’s even close, he would be a complete buffoon to let it happen. He would just pardon his kids and resign a day or two prior to January 20 with a stipulation that impeachment process ends.

That way, he gets all the perks (including being able to run again which he’ll get) and the rest of us feel a little vindicated.

And federal charges after the impeachment.

Agreed. Part of the merit of waiting until Jan. 20 for Senate Impeachment proceedings, is Trump will be facing criminal charges at the same time Senate will be debating impeachment.

I hope they do impeach him because at trial he should be able to raise the truth or falsity of his election fraud claims as a defense, so finally we can get some answers

His election fraud claims have lost in court somewhere around 65 times. We have all the answers we need on those.

It's insane that both parties have been trying to knock this guy out for 5 years can't do it.  Tech moguls take him out in 48 hours.

Up until the doors to the capitol were breached most of one party was lock-step with Trump, or too afraid to say so.

They made passionate speeches late at night and went back to their old ways the next day, with few exceptions.
