Middle East Forever War Tracker

Might as well get it started since we'll likely see a good amount of bombing and increased troop presence all over the Middle East. It didn't take long for my prediction of Syria being the first country to feel a little American freedom coming there way. #nevermiss

We can use this thread to track the Biden administration's ongoing escalation of ME tension and share some dank war memes.

The teaser for today's new episode of CVON is lit...

Feb 26th, Episode 209:

In an odd plot twist, emb poster kkkz starts a thread condemning the killing of brown people.

Yes, I've always voiced strong support for wars in the middle east. Came up a little short with that one, as usual.

I can't tell if you do or don't realize that the strike was a retaliation against Iranian backed forces who attacked us.  What's your solution here, rollover and let them hit us?  Don't say pull out of the ME, because they've already struck, so what's your solution once they do?

Let's be clear: The airstrike on 2/25 was on Iranian positions in Syria. LINK Specifically a border crossing where Iran was sending forces into Syria. This airstrke is in direct retaliation for the airstrike Iran conducted earlier this month. They were asking for it.

Jen Psaki's tweet is just as tone deaf now as it was in 2017: The legal authority is the Combined Joint Task Force LINK, continuing operations in Syria. (Another forever war Trump failed to end.) Here's the link to her full opinion of Trump's strikes in 2017: LINK. She was critical of Trump's manner to act without consulting allies, what's the bigger plan? I suppose we find out what our allies think of Biden's action in upcoming weeks/months.

This thread has potential, but I see it's already off the deep-end. I don't know why I even try anymore.

Van, the strikes will always be justified according to the swamp. We'll always be the good guys. I'm sure at some point Assad will gas his own people and require us to get even deeper. The solution is leave. Stop bombing the brown people. Stop trying to spread "freedom" in the ME.

Obviously with Biden taking over that's a pipe dream, and we're going to see more ME interventionism, but that doesn't mean we have to lap up everything the swamp sells us.

So, you think our response to being attacked should have been leaving the ME?

Yeah, anyone opposed to forever wars and bombing brown people loves Iran. Not going to be a lucid one for you today, is it. Such a shame.

Yes. The best time to leave the ME was immediately after going there. The second best time is now.

It's really not that hard. The following 2 statements can both be accurate:

1. The US needs to retaliate against actors that attack us. Allowing attacks on our assets to go unanswered is ridiculously awful policy that only encourages more attacks.

2. Those assets shouldn't have been there in the first place, because we shouldn't be trying to police a centuries old religious conflict among radicals.

The intellectual dishonesty in this debate is staggering, if unsurprising.

I disagree.  If they hit you, you have to hit back.

And pulling out now is far less likely than it had to be and you can blame your boy Trump for that one.   If you were actually interested in leaving the ME, you would've supported the Iranian nuclear deal.  It was our best chance for a measure of stability.  Now it seems unlikely.

If we're there, we are going to get hit or the swamp will say we got hit so we can spread freedom. I mean we may as well take bets now as to when they'll tell us Assad gassed a children's hospital or something. It's incredibly predictable.

Well I guess you'd better hope that Biden can somehow convince Iran to get back into the nuclear agreement, because, again, that's the only chance we have for actually leaving.  It's one thing to leave when the greatest risk is regional conflicts, but it's something else entirely when the risk is regional conflicts and a rogue nuclear state.

That's a very relevant 3 year old tweet you dug up there KKZ. You hippy peacenick surrender monkeys should be properly praising and worshipping God Emperor Biden for ending Trump's war in Yemen.

OK, I'll put you down for pro-bombing brown people. Thanks for your input.

I'm not pro-bombing anyone.  I'm anti-nuclear-Iran, which is why I was such a big fan of the Iranian Nuclear Deal.  Unfortunately, the irresponsibility and revenge-policy focus of the Trump administration has handed Iran a nuke on a silver platter and now our options are limited.  Great job, idiots.

Great post, sticking with this, though:
