Lebron and Ibrahimovic

Recommended Posts

So Lebron and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are fighting.  I guess it started with Ibrahimovic answering a question or commenting:

https://www.espn.com/soccer/ac-milan/story/4324640/zlatan-ibrahimovic-to-lebron-james-do-what-youre-good-at,-stay-out-of-politics

Quote

"[LeBron] is phenomenal at what he's doing, but I don't like when people have some kind of status, they go and do politics at the same time," Ibrahimovic said. "Do what you're good at. Do the category you do. I play football because I'm the best at playing football.

"I don't do politics. If I would be a political politician, I would do politics. That is the first mistake people do when they become famous and they become in a certain status. Stay out of it. Just do what you do best because it doesn't look good."

Then Lebron responds:

So at first I don't think that much of it, but of course I agree with Ibrahimovic, but I didn't know anything about him so I went to follow him on social media, and I looked at some of his highlights on youtube.  Then just for craps I saw this video of Skip and Shannon and I haven't heard from them in a long time, so I gave them a listen.

Usual PC bs from Shannon, and Skip too, but Skip brought to my attention that Ibrahimovic is actually a very dirty player and I had no idea, so I checked out this highlight video:

And now this guy is my absolute favorite player in soccer, because I bet you dollars to donuts he doesnt care about the political stuff at all, he was deliberately trying to get a reaction out of Lebron

Zlatan was displaced by the wars in the Balkans growing up and I’m guessing for him sports has always been a pleasant distraction.

He was born in Malmö

I’m longtime friends with Zlatan’s first top division coach from when Zlatan was 17 or 18. Great great player but always been a total deek head prima donna as well.

I never understood this. So if you are a plumber or car salesman, giving your opinion on politics is ok. But if you play a pro sport or are an actor or musician your opinion is invalid.

If you are a plumber nobody cares anyway

Yet nobody tells plumbers to shut up and unclog drains.

I get the weak ass point you are trying to make (seems to be your thing, weak ass points)  but everyone's opinion is the same regardless of occupation.

I don't use Twitter. I bet there is at least a single plumber who talks politics on there though. At least one. Probably more than one, but at least one.

I'm a big fan of people that tell other people to shut up by talking about it on the news, social media and everywhere else. They are literally making LeBron's voice heard even more. Good job doing exactly what Lebron wants lol.

Is Joe the Plumber still a thing?

Somewhere there is definitely a plumber named Joe, so yes. He also needs to stop having any political opinion and just install pipes and fixtures. Who does Joe think he is anyway?

People get told to STFU about their politics all the time. Just look in here. Or on Twitter.

Sure. That's not the same as saying "man, these plumbers need to keep their opinions about politics to themselves. What does a plumber know about it anyway?".  Telling an individual is not the same as attempting to exclude an entire group of people because they are famous or make a ton of money.

Zlatan is going to do Zlatan.  He's 1000% in love with himself and will tell you exactly what he thinks.  He won't care what anyone else thinks or says.  He's also very opinionated.  Take him for what he is, a brilliant soccer player and super confident individual.

btw - If you like looking at soccer highlights take a look at some of Zlatan's.  Many of his goals are a bit different from the traditional goal scorers.  He is six four and built like a race horse but with amazing ball handling skills.  He ends up getting lots of chances with half volleys and mid air strikes and things like that.  Quite different from what a Messi type would end up with.
