Majority of Eagles’ 2021 draft class was on ex-NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah’s top-150 big board | Who was biggest steal?

Milton Williams

The Philadelphia Eagles selected Louisiana Tech defensive tackle Milton Williams with the 73rd overall pick in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah is a big fan of the Eagles’ 2021 NFL Draft haul.

The former Eagles, Browns and Ravens evaluator gave his old team an A+ for their rookie class following the draft. Jeremiah, now the lead draft analyst for NFL Network, had seven of the Eagles’ nine draft picks on his top-150 big board.

A pair of sixth-round picks, Coastal Carolina defensive end Tarron Jackson and LSU safety/linebacker JaCoby Stevens, didn’t make the list.

Here are the Eagles’ picks who did make the cut on Jeremiah’s board:

Player Actual pick Jeremiah’s ranking
DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama 10th overall (1st) 6th
Landon Dickerson, OL, Alabama 37th overall (2nd) 40th
Milton Williams, DT, Louisiana Tech 73rd overall (3rd) 72nd
Zech McPhearson, CB, Texas Tech 123rd overall (4th) 85th
Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Memphis 150th overall (5th) 78th
Marlon Tuipulotu, DT, USC 189th overall (6th) 126th
Patrick Johnson, DE/LB, Tulane 234th overall (7th) 124th

Based on Jeremiah’s board, the Eagles got strong value on Day 3 of the draft with four of their six picks.

Gainwell, Tuipulotu and Johnson, in particular, were huge value picks. Jeremiah, speaking on NFL Network, called Tuipulotu one of the biggest steals of Day 3.

"At one point and time, he was in my Top 50,” Jeremiah said. "So, to get him at 189, I thought, was a tremendous steal there for the Eagles.”

The Eagles’ top three picks -- Smith, Dickerson and Williams -- seemed to follow -- at least coincidentally -- Jeremiah’s value chart. The Eagles said they stuck to their board throughout the draft, and if their list was similar to Jeremiah’s board, then they made out with fair-to-terrific value throughout the weekend.

Johnson, the Eagles’ final pick, might be the team’s most interesting steal. While he is a pass rusher, the Eagles claimed him as a linebacker when they announced his pick. The Eagles took Johnson 110 picks after where he was slotted by Jeremiah, meaning he could be one of the biggest surprises of the Eagles’ class if he develops during the summer.

Johnson will be a player to keep an eye on this offseason.

Is Howie stealing Jeremiah’s draft board now?

I’m sure it’s better than Howie’s.

NJ.com took it up a notch when it replaced Eckel and ESP with Mike Kaye.  The articles are interesting and informative now.
