Harden expected to opt out. If he takes a lesser contract to help the team build a contender, gotta give him a lot of respect for that.

He has to be close to 600 million at this point with his Adidas stuff

Still a commendable move if that’s what he does. Shows he’s more hungry for a ring than he is for more money.

Commendable to opt out and get more years which means more money?  Give me a break.  The guy is toast and disappears.  You wanna pat him on the back for that?  Holy F.  What is it with this guy?  Darryl is that you?

Our big offseason move will be a guy who never averaged double digit points his entire career and goes by the name of "Pops Jr”.   Whatever Morey is cooking up, I hope he added some fiber to it.

It’s not the opt out, it’s IF he did it to take a big discount for a few years to free up space. We will see what the deal looks like. Of course he could take $5M per year for the good of the team and you’d still trash him.

I know exactly what it is.  But he would make more money over the course of a few years then he would over one year.  So to make it sound like he's being charitable is pretty silly.  Nice strawman on the $5M comment.

Are you one of those guys who becomes a huge fan of a player just because he's on one of your teams?  Unconditionally?

He knows he wouldn't get a max deal anywhere after that last playoff performance and basically admitted to taking the last 2 yrs off .... It sounds good that he took less but, in reality he took what he was probably going to get else where.

He took less in the short term to get more long term.  Gee, what a saint.

That too. For some that makes up for his 2 shots in 24 minutes as the greatest scorer of all time 🙄

i never liked harden's game...but they tried to acquire him for around 2 years & they're not going to let him walk now that they have him.  if he takes a little less so the team has more flexibility to make other moves, that's about best we can realistically hope for.

It is what it is at this point.  Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.  Never wanted the guy in the first place.  But someone to celebrate him like he’s a hero is pretty mind numbing.

i haven't seen fans celebrating him on here.   i mean...happy when they got him for a spoiled bum who wasn't even playing...sure.  but celebrating him as a hero?  nah.

Quote

Philadelphia continues to be mentioned as the leader to land Tucker on a widely-discussed deal that could reach as high as three years and $30 million. In addition to James Harden sacrificing some annual dollars, it’s believed the Sixers are still exploring various trade options to free financial flexibility, as well as upgrade their roster with premium veteran talent. The two teams most often mentioned as Matisse Thybulle suitors have been Portland and Dallas.

The Sixers’ biggest need is wings, and it’s hard to find many options who could be attainable from Portland or Dallas. The Mavericks’ Reggie Bullock seems like the best, and potentially more realistic target from these teams (at least more so than guys like Josh Hart and Dorian Finney-Smith, who certainly wouldn’t be available in such a scenario). Bullock would give the Sixers some extra rangy defense at 6-foot-6, and a pretty quick trigger from three with his high-volume shooting (he’s shot 39 percent from three on seven attempts per 36 minutes over the last five seasons).

However, Bullock was a starting level player for the Mavs through their run to the Western Conference Finals. Thybulle is a liability on offense and couldn’t be counted on to even stay in Philly’s playoff bench rotation. It’s hard to see the Mavs moving Bullock for Thybulle, unless they’re incredibly high on the Sixers’ young wing and receive additional compensation from the Sixers.

We’ll keep you updated with any more developments in a possible Thybulle trade. For now, the biggest thing to monitor with the Sixers is whether Harden does opt and take a pay cut starting from next season — which seems like an increasingly likely and helpful development.

Definitely would allow them to get tucker and not have to just ship guys like thybulle and kork out for nothing. Also helps wait on dealing tobias if they wanted too. He becomes more valuable at the trade deadline/next offseason with his contract becoming an expiring contract in 23-24

If they play it right,  Harris, Tucker, and Harden will all expire at the same time.

Even if Harden and Tucker get a 3rd year unguaranteed to make it easier to trade,  or release.

Could be looking at big space in 2 summers.

I’m guessing if harden is not opting in and taking less then he’s likely getting a guaranteed 3rd year. I’d love to get him on 2 year. Even so harris and tucker coming off clears room.

Windhorst said the 6ers are operating as if they have the full MLE, and the BAE.

So you'll get Tucker,  and the BAE should be somewhere around 3 million, so someone for that amount too. I'd guess they'd give Drummond that as a thank you/sorry for the Nets trade rather than trying to get him back on a vet min.
