For a stretch of four games in the middle of last season, Travis Fulgham was playing like the Eagles’ No. 1 wide receiver, with some people going as far as saying he was the next Terrell Owens.

However, after Fulgham’s meteoric rise and his anointment as the next Pro Bowl wide receiver, his production came to a crashing halt, and he saw his snaps diminish after former Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery returned from an injury.

Fulgham was never able to put up the same numbers as he did in the middle of the season, but he still finished the season leading the Eagles in receiving yards (539) and was third in receptions (38).

Eagles wide receiver coach Aaron Moorehead spoke on Tuesday about Fulgham and gave insight into what the young wide receiver was going through last season.

"The four weeks showed me and everybody a lot,” Moorehead said. "With that, it also comes with the responsibility of understanding that defenses will start scheming towards you to stop you. For a young player, it took a little bit for him to understand that sometimes. Then, he got nicked up a little bit and didn’t complain, but he had to play through it. As the season got going, it wore on him a little bit.”

Moorehead said that he still has a lot of confidence in Fulgham, saying that he is looking forward to seeing him this season, knowing that he has the talent to be a productive wide receiver in the league.

"If Travis can continue to grow physically, mentally, and all of those other things, he can get himself to be that guy,” Moorehead said. "If he does, to be honest, our receiving corps with Jalen (Reagor)DeVonta (Smith), Travis, and Greg (Ward) can be can be really, really, really good.”

The Eagles could have some interesting decisions to make in training camp. It had been previously mentioned that the wide receivers would be learning all of the positions, from lining up outside to being in the slot.

If Fulgham can learn each position and duplicate the way he played last season, it would potentially put pressure on opposing defenses because of the variety of styles the receivers bring. Fulgham and Ward are possession receivers, Reagor has the speed to separate from defensive back when running across the middle of the field, and Smith can be a dynamic, playmaking receiver.

So a loss of confidence together with playing hurt. Pretty much what we hear a lot of the time isn't it?

There were also reports that he wasn't sticking to script, that he wasn't running the routes the plays called for and was improvising that led somewhat to being in the doghouse.

I'm not sure where you got the "loss of confidence" from. My take --- He was basically a rookie last year and has growing to do as a player.
