Snyder is so close to losing ownership of the team due to the disgusting toxic work environment that developed in his tenure. I think his hand is forced.

Which to me is why the NFL won't release the report:

What I REALLY think the NFL fears is a nightmare scenario where they not only have to pay Snyder whatever it takes to force him out, but then have to turn around and for free GIVE FedEx Field and The now-Commanders back to the Cooke Family, the previous owners whom some to this believe were swindled out of the team in early 1999 in an auction that was supposed to be for tax purposes and be a mere formality to turn the team over from Jack Kent Cooke (who passed away in 1997) to his son John Kent Cooke.  Some feel the Cooke family should be the rightful owners of the team and if Snyder were forced out the NFL would have to spend $10-15 BILLION to "right a past wrong" in taking the team from Snyder and giving it back to the Cooke family.

And once again:

They should have gone with the name of the two former Washington baseball franchises, the Senators:

Mine was a Texas Instruments 99. It had a few decent game cartridges but nothing as cool as the Commodore.

You could write programs in BASIC but if you wanted to save anything you had to use a cassette deck . Every once in a while someone would mistakenly put one of my cassettes in the stereo and hear nothing but mo/dem -like sounds.

it had 16kb of internal memory - that's not even enough to hold a nipple of porn.

my dad picked up a Timex Sinclair somehow. used the tv for monitor and cassette recorder for data.

I grew up in Redskins country, so I saw a lot of Riggins on TV. Hated the player, as an Eagles fan, but I always liked him.

John Riggins rips Commanders name

Riggins played running back for the Redskins

John Riggins was an elite running back during his time with the Washington Redskins.

He helped the Redskins win the Super Bowl during the 1982 season over the Miami Dolphins rushing for 166 yards on 38 carries and a touchdown. He admitted during an episode of his podcast "The John Riggins Show" that he was in favor of a name change after he retired, seeing how the name was offending people.

But the Washington Commanders, he says, isn’t a good choice.

"I feel completely disenfranchised," he said, via Washington Football Wire. "I can’t understand how anyone who once played under the old franchise name could possibly want to be a part of anything to do with the Washington Commanders."

As far as the potential for a Washington Commanders football jersey, Riggins said it made him feel "filthy" and "dirty."

"… I don’t want anything to do with it. Maybe I will change. Maybe I need a little more time, I don’t know. It just doesn’t feel right to me."

The Hall of Fame running back was a 14-time Pro Bowler and an All-Pro. He ran for more than 1,000 yards three times in his career between the Redskins and the New York Jets.

The Commanders name was unveiled earlier this month after years of pushback against the name. The team temporarily changed its name to the Washington Football Team in the midst of racial tension in the U.S. and the enhanced focus on the usage of Native American monikers in sports.

Doesn't surprise me Riggo would think this way:

Riggo was a proud member of the '80s Redskins where he became the oldest player ever to rush for 1,000 yards in a season in 1983 and got them back to the Super Bowl that year.

Another reason why I would have gone with the Senators, a name that does have historical meaning in Washington from two former baseball franchises.

Not too shabby really if you ask me.  They could have done much worse.

the unit’s have a college look to me

since we can turn the page on this charter now that the team settled on a new name I think it was f’d up that they had to change names in the 1st place and as a long time eagles fan they will always be the Redskins.

I see that Redskins WR Charley Taylor died. Growing up in Maryland (very near RFK Stadium) and with two brothers and a father who were Redskins fans (my father not a die-hard fan, he was more into College than NFL), I remember those old Redskins teams and met a few of them, along the way. Taylor being one of them that I met (though I was really young). He and a few other Redskins were signing autographs at the grand opening of a hardware store named "Homeowners Warehouse", or "HOW" for short.

A few years later I met Chris Hanburger at his Ford Dealership in College Park (near the University of Maryland). Years later, the summer before he reported to the Redskins training camp for the first time, I was invited to a birthday party for Bruce Smith at his Virginia Beach home (one of my neighbors was friends with his mother). At one point, I was sitting in his living room with him and talking about football and of course I HAD to kind of tease him for going to a 'loser franchise' and that if he wanted to win anything, he should have gone to Philadelphia.

I also remember that we talked about Reggie White, since Reggie was (and is) one of my all-time favorite players (of any sport). Of course, that was a few years before Reggie died and I think he may have even still been playing at the time.

So I've actually met a few Pro Football Hall of Fame players... unfortunately, they were all Redskins, though... lol.

They should have used a Wu-Tang name generator

http://www.mess.be/inickgenwuname.php

Washington Redskins = Master Magician

Washington Football Team = Lazy-assed Wizard

This is the same Wu-Tang clan name generator that Donald Glover used to come up with the stage name Childish Gambino, so it's legit. Other ones won't get you the same results. 😄

Lame name lame unis.  Lol they went from a team that "supposedly” offended minorities to a team name that states they have control over others.

Name and uni are fine.  The franchise has major goodwill issues stemming from a whole host of other things that is being reflected in the attitudes towards the brand changes.  It doesn't matter what color or brand of paint you use, you can't fix those issues with a coat of paint.

It was really odd they went that way originally.  Before there logo, literally every piece of merchandise that they sold with the superbowl year was the year of the regular season.  It's almost as if they had some intern do the design and they looked up superbowl winners and used the actual year.

I think this name is owned by the Minnesota Twins organization.

Given how that organization is run I would not be surprised in the least.

This team could not have gone further out of its way to piss off it's remaining fan base.  Most fans in DC that I know of really were into the name Red Wolves.  "Howl with the Red Wolves" or something like that fits in with the old team tradition.  Nobody wants commanders.  If Snyder is forced to sell the team I would not be surprised in the least if they rebranded again.

Kind of reminds me of some fan (maybe an Eagles fan, I don't remember now), that got an NFC Champions tattoo... let's say it was an Eagles fan, since I don't recall exactly now. The Tattoo was '2005 NFC Champions' for the 2004 Eagles winning the NFCCG in January 2005. Of course, the Eagles weren't the 2005 NFC Champions even though the game was played in 2005.

It may have been a fan of some other team for some other year, but whoever it was, they got the year wrong lol.

That logo is of the second Senators, that became the Texas Rangers in 1972.  I suspect they would not care if an NFL team used the Senators name the Griffiths gave up when they moved the original Senators to the Twin Cities in 1961.

Just found an interesting video how Native Americans actually like the name Redskins. So stupid.

FFS stop it already.  The name was cringeworthy for decades.  We will be shocked it ever made it into the 21st century.
