They can’t hit when they need it and they consistently give up the leads they do get! INCONSISTENT AS ALL F (1) They’ve never felt the need to bring in a lead off hitter and high batting average players (2) Their solution to the BP has been to spend on over the hill veterans. Imagine if they spent on that FA money on Schwarber, Knebel, Familia and Hand on all star relief pitching? We’d probably have 5-7 more wins already.
Dave Moss 22,620 Posted Thursday at 04:14 PM They did need more hitters to protect Harper though. Just having Hoskins and Realmuto doing that was insufficient.

Go over the luxury tax, stupid money and all that BS and not even get to 500. We're reaping the results of the decades-long flawed philosophy of drafting toolsy position players instead of pitchers in the high first round. In 2015 we drafted Cornelius Randolph. The Dodgers drafted Walter Buehler a few picks later. The year we took Moniak 1 overall, the Braves took Ian Anderson 2 picks later and he is the #3 starter on a World Series winning team. The year we drafted Adam Hasely, the Marlins drafted Trevor Rogers a few picks after us and he was an All Star and finished 2nd in the ROY voting last year. We drafted Nola in 2014 and he has the 2nd highest WAR of any player picked that round. Abel and Painter look like they are going to be solid prospects. Prioritizing pitching in the drat and International Free Agency allows you to build a pipeline of cheap, controllable arms that can either fill your bullpen and rotation, or you can use them to trade. A much better strategy than spending money on past their prime aging veterans. To quote Pat Gillick - "Buy the bats, grow the arms"

e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! 46,933 Posted 4 hours ago At what point does stott get sent down the minors. Dude has been horrific at the plate. He’s batting .119 and is 1 for his last 19 at bats. Add on his fielding has been mediocre at best
