I don’t deny he made a stupid comment. He did. I do however, deny that he said, "go inject Lysol into your arms people of America.”

That meme is pretty much a direct quote of what he said.

Quote

"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that, so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me. So, we’ll see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute. That’s pretty powerful."

His dumb comment was posed as an interrogatory question, not a declarative statement. Was it moronic? Absolutely, 100%. But nowhere in there did he say anything along the lines of, "Go inject Lysol or huff Clorox.”

Right but the meme you quoted never said he did.  It pretty accurately quoted his very dumb comment.

Ah I see the disconnect now. I was basically stating that I don’t think most rational people were disputing he made a dumb comment. I think those that were vehemently defending that whole situation was because that quote instantly was turned into "Trump said to shoot up Lysol” by the left media circuit. At least that’s the only part I defend from that whole scenario. I could have written my post better. I blame my multiple Bulleit rye old fashioneds.

Well as long as it's cause you're drunk on bourbon I guess I'll let it slide

During the April 23 White House Coronavirus Task Force briefing, Bill Bryan, undersecretary for science and technology at the Department of Homeland Security, discussed a study regarding shortening the coronavirus's lifespan through exposure to sunlight and humidity.

Trump then floated the idea that ultraviolet light could be used in the body as a treatment.

"So, supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light — and, I think you said that that hasn’t been checked, but you’re going to test it,” he said. "And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way, and I think you said you’re going to test that, too. It sounds interesting.”

Not drunk...yet. But got a real good buzz going. I’m the HR Director for a home health care company. We have 5k caregivers providing in home care to senior Medicaid patients. So the pandemic has been driving me to drink far more than usual anyway, and my open enrollment period for all of them just started today as well, so tonight is defffinitely a heavy Bulleit night.

 of course you're trying to defend it. The reporter is the first one who mentioned bleach specifically, however again the direct quote from Trump was "I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning". So yes, he mentioned injecting a disinfectant as something that "sounds interesting to [him]"  And in case you think he was misinterpreted he later tried to claim that it was "a very sarcastic question to the reporters in the room about disinfectant on the inside."

So no, he didn't say "go out and chug lysol ****es!" but what he said was not much better, and his "it was just a joke" excuse is very weak.

Yeah, today was only a nightmarish hellscape. So I got that going for me.  Thank god for my heated pool, plastic rocks "glasses”, sphere ice and floating cup holders. The rye will swallow my sadness like tears in rain.

The possibility that this actually happened is much greater than people would think.
