Goedert is one of the stranger things to me in this offense and why he isn’t consistently putting strong games together. He should be getting a lot of the crucial third down targets too. I don’t know if it’s Hurts missing him like he did in the NE game or just a horrible scheme. But there is zero reason why he shouldn’t be flourishing in the middle of the field with AJ and DeVonta drawing coverage. Even with Quez out there running clear out routes (I know he’s out now). He shouldn’t be having these games where it feels like he’s invisible. Last week is what we should be getting from him more often than not.

Depending on the pool each year and how the board breaks, you can get OT pro bowl potential even after that.  But there are 2 other variables….risk to realize that potential and the runway to realize it.

Readiness to contribute as a rookie is what slaps a round 1 price tag on an OL.

And not to chicken little the Lane situation, but that’s what we need.  The OL falls apart without him and it happens every year.

If your concern is Lane missing a few games, then you’re better off going for a veteran. Unless the eagles plan on trading up into the top 10 or so, they aren’t getting a guy who can start day 1 and play at a high level.

Re Driscoll...its not easy coming in cold during the game without hardly any reps during the week.  Backups perform much better when they have a week to prepare as a starter.

Koy Detmer looked like a world beater against the Niners the week after McNabb broke his ankle.  Looked like crap when he came in during the NFCCG the next season.

I’m going to suggest something that will get me smacked.

We need a slot wr who is a bit shifty.  We are desperate.  As good as AJ, Devonta, Goedert, and Swift are, we’ve got 10 guys on the field on offense when we roll with 11 personnel.

Jalen Reagor is on the Patriots practice squad.

Should have gotten that Super Bowl last year when the bounces were going their way and the injury bug was at bay.

No way the Eagles sniff the Super Bowl in the years to come with this core roster.

Questionable draft choices, players a year older and breaking down, turnover at both coordinator positions.

I'm a UGA alum and diehard Dawgs fan, but both Nolan Smith and Nakobe Dean look like JAGS out there. Early yes, but not promising.  Jurgens and Brown perpetually injured. Ringo too raw to do much of anything yet. FAs brought in outside of the Swift trade look very pedestrian.

Hard to say jurgens and brown are perpetually injured. Both first year playing significant time and got hurt. If they keep getting hurt can make that statement.

when I look at this team when they play, there are four significant areas which i think Next year they address

1. Corner— slay and Bradberry are older. None of these guys playing snaps behind them I think are anything worthwhile. Sorry maybe others have higher hopes but i really don’t. They might be decent backups. I don’t see any has high end starters.  need a young corner that can take over for bradberry and slay going forward. Might need to actually spend a first round pick on one.

2. Slot WR— outside of smith and brown our WRs are just guys. I get they don’t get many targets but they aren’t good enough. I don’t think you need to invest a high round pick but a 3-5th rounder that can give you more then quez and Oz.

3. RT— love lane. Hope he can play and stay healthy for years to come. But most of the time when he gets hurt, this offense just looks bad. I feel like that cowboys game is the only game i remember with him out where they looked good. Need to bring in someone that can play RT if he gets hurt.

4. LB— it’s brutally bad out there. Morrow and Cunningham can’t cover. Dean hasn’t stayed healthy and just kind of looks bleh when he is out there. Maybe he gets better as the year continues. But it’s a major problem. Last year it wasn’t great but they were at least competent. This unit isn’t even that.

Id say safety if Reed shows he can’t stay healthy and brown continues to be banged up and doesn’t look like he’s getting better week to week when he returns

Lotta people complaining on Brian Johnson, and his game plan deservingly so but the Jets was missing a lot of key members and their secondary so I can understand all the passes Jalen hurts has regressed the combination of two not good

It would get you off of Quez pretty quick.

Solak and Sheil defended Driscoll. Said he had a tough game but he’s better than most backup and/or bad tackles in the NFL and blamed him being thrown in on against that tough defensive front and the Eagles lack of concern adjusting help on that side. Said it’s just not what the Eagles do and haven’t done it even dating back to Doug. They just like to stick to what they do.

They clearly like Driscoll and I think we should probably give the benefit of the doubt to Stoutland based on his track record as far as his preference. My guess is they knew going into this year that Lane probably wasn’t going to stay healthy all season. He rarely does now. Backup RT is one of the most important slots on this team given the impact Lane has when he goes out. They can’t F around there and take it lightly. It’s also why they went with Steen in the draft.

I think Driscoll will be fine going into the week of practice getting started reps. But I don’t know how long the leash will be. They can probably survive Miami and Washington. But they’ll need Lane back for Dallas so hopefully it’s only a two week absence.

I'm pretty sure Driscoll will play way better this week with more 1st team reps and Stout hopefully correcting his mistakes.

I ain't gonna read page after page about this crap game. Might sit out for a few days. But just a couple of quick points.

Biggest plays of the game. If any one of them go right, we probably win.

* The drop by DeVonta.

* Brown slowing down on his deep route which might have been a touchdown if he had run hard.

* Blowing the field goal.

* The killer interception. I still think it was the right call to try to pass for a first down because if you get it, you flat out win the game. A run was almost a guarantee you have to punt anyway. But it's better to throw the ball to an open receiver rather than an open defender. That was the key.

I'm too scared to even look at Eagles news regarding injuries. I'm assuming the news about Johnson is not going to be good and I'd rather bury my head in the sand for the next little while.

Didn't realize the Jets were 29th against the run.  Kinda makes you mad that they didn't put more effort into getting the run game going.  Especially with Driscoll in there.  Easier for him to run block then asking him to pass protect all those plays.

Tough 8 game stretch coming up.  4-4 would be a reasonable ask unless they can find some answers and start playing better.

Didn't the Eagles score on the drive where AJ slowed up? That was the Swift TD reception.

29th vs the run = 45 pass attempts in Clown World

This is the stuff that annoys me.  Lazy commentary.  In no way was Smith the primary read on this play.

Something that hasn't been mentioned is that Goedert didn't play a single down on that last 4 play drive. You can see it's Calcaterra cutting across the middle.

The Eagles just aren’t as good as they were last year. It starts with Hurts and the coaching

Goedert looked injured to me - wonder if thats why he wasn't on the field

Bright side is it took a -4 TO differential, a ton of drops and injuries, and a missed FG to somehow lose this game.  Basically the WSH game from last year.  A fluke.

Next week vs. MIA will tell us more.

Don't mind the call in that situation. I would've put the game in our QBs hands for him to win it. That's why you paid him.

You did not pay him to make a laughably poor read and pass.

I think his ankle got dinged going out of bounds on one of those screens.

I think Driscoll has shown us enough from last season to yesterday.  He isn't a tackle.  Too slow, not strong enough in the lower body.  He is a serious liability and proves it everytime he plays.

I'm a bit worried where DeVonta Smith's head is right now. Outside of his drops, his body language the past 2 weeks has been noticeably off. On the long pass to AJ Brown down the left sideline, he was down there blocking which was great. Huge play for the Eagles which usually everyone on the team is amped up about. DeVonta didn't engage with AJ after the play, instead it looked like he turned and sulked back towards the huddle.

AJ Brown is clearly the top dog. Is DeVonta OK with that or does he expect/want to be the top dog? HIs drop over the middle was terrible. Worst play he's had as an Eagle. On the other hand, when's the last time we saw the Eagles draw a play up like that for him? He's constantly given WR screens or short passes. The Eagles are misusing him in the worst way.

The game was lost when you called a passing play like a dumb F. Zach Wilson isn’t going 80 yards in a minute.

Caught up this morning on the game. It was a poor performance, perhaps the team overall started to feel itself and looked past the Jets to the Dolphins game.  A reality check and reminder you gotta beat who is in front of you.

Whoever it is, that amount of turnovers is not acceptable on O.  Hurts looked like the 2021 version at times; the lack of energy showed -it felt like there was an expectation something would happen but did anyone step up?  The coaches needed to help Driscoll more, etc

Is this team bad?  No, but it's not good enough to cruise through games and win based on one or two players.  The injury report this week will be an interesting one, but I wouldn't panic and throw draft picks around on trades.

The biggest thing to change is for the team to up their levels, all of them.
