I'm still blown away by the amount of injuries this team is going through. Even the announcers made a joke about it yesterday as they kept going down to the sidelines for injury updates. I also think the NFL is going to have to give serious consideration to natural grass being required.

MetLife stadium just changed the turf too. That stadium is a pos and they are dumb for not going to grass to prevent injuries for their own team. Play there 8 or 9 games that way higher risk for their own team.

We had some pretty extreme injury luck last year and seemed to hit where we had depth… this year not so much.

Driscoll wasn’t good. However throwing and dropping back as much as we did with two backups on the right side is a recipe for that to happen. Also not to bash hurts there were numerous times he sat and sat back there and then finally took off to the right. I remember at least 5 times i began yelling get rid of the ball taking too long. Would probably count as a pressure but he had time but either no one got open or he’s not seeing the field very well.

Once upon a time, we had a HC who would say he needed to put his players in a better position to make plays.  Our coaches did NOT do that offensively yesterday.  I get the weakened secondary of the Jets yesterday looked enticing, but they were playing pretty well.  Jets were 29th against the run and we are supposed to be a good running team.   We NEEDED to help our OL by making their job easier... by running the ball.

Meanwhile, I am sick and tired of our QB draw plays on 3rd down in the red zone.  Enough.  Find a new option.  The QB draw is great when its a surprise.   Nothing surprising about it right now.  I was hoping that the team would take a hard look at the red zone and improve it.   And despite two touchdowns in the red zone yesterday, the play calls left me very much dissatisfied with any type of wrinkles or innovation for this team.

Sadly no Rhys

Ignoring  his actual health/readiness for a second….

If Rhys were to DH, that’s Schwarber in left.  Do they do Rojas or Marsh in center?  (They probably play off the pitching matchups). Because we are comparing the bat of Rhys versus Marsh or Rojas.

Rhys may be a better hitter than both, but it needs to be by a margin that exceeds the concession of Schwarber’s glove in LF.

A lineup with Rhys/Marsh is a lot better than a lineup with Rojas/Marsh…but that’s a lot worse in the field.  A Rhys/Rojas lineup might be closer than we think to Marsh/Rojas while still making concessions in the field.

Combine that with the uncertainty over how ready he is to contribute and it probably just made sense to leave him off.

Watched the compressed game, and it looked like the OC gave Driscoll some help with occasional chips and shifting the blocking in his direction and he did OK there - but when left alone it wasn’t a good situation. Wish Swag saw Johnson coming on the hand hit/INT…

Can we just call him Jalen or Hurts?

I'm sticking to my theory that Brian Johnson doesn't know how to call plays in the RZ and his only goal is to get close enough to the goal line so he can call a QB sneak.

My issue with run game was there was no consistency - +8yds yay, -4 drive killer what!

No - maybe Hulu.

He’s on pace for 23 turnovers. That’s really bad. Not all him like the goedert int but he’s fortunate he didn’t have another pick on a sideline throw which he basically threw it to smith who was blanketed and it likely should’ve been picked. Jets were down 4 corners. Managed to have 3 ints (1 not on him) and could’ve had more is an issue. At least when josh Allen struggled week 1 and mahomes a couple weeks back they were healthy. This was a banged up team (granted eagles had injuries too) particularly in the secondary and oline.

There's definitely a disconnect between Hurts and the coaching somewhere; losing Steichen was going to have an impact.  There is going to be a big adjustment on defense losing the DC as well as 6-7 players to FA.  Most in the national media see that the Eagles were winning despite not playing near their best, and that there are definite issues in pass defense.  I think folks have understated the impact of losing Steichen on offense.

Hurts' issues can be fixed.  He needs to get on the same page with Nick/Brian and he needs to trust the 10 guys around him -- he has an excellent supporting cast.  He also needs to be more decisive; I was taken aback by how bad his decisions and executions were on the last two drives.

at this point I think the only way rhys was going to bat as if it was a pinch hitter. I don’t think they’re gonna make him the DH because they don’t wanna have to play Schwarber in the outfield. To me, I think the bigger thing would be leaving cave off the roster so you have him if you needed a right handed pinch-hitter.

i’m guessing there’s a good chance he’s on the World Series roster if they make it. but I don’t think he’s going to be the DH especially not every night. I think he’s more of if they need a right handed pinch-hitter situationally they’ll use him.

For a running game to be consistent, it needs to be given a chance to get a rhythm.  There was no rhythm yesterday.

Last year they brought in a consultant to help the d. I wish they would do that right now for the offense.

Rhys on the roster is a hedge for a right handed PH to step in for Marsh/Pache/Rojas.   Against a lefty, there's no doubt that Rhys is my go to in that moment.  My second would be Marsh, contrary to the analytics.

Running on 1st down and getting nothing/negative is a bad beat.

Having your QB have to run for his life on first down isn't better.

Well, that sucked. Here are some thoughts after letting the anger/disappointment subside.

1. Hurts played well for 3 quarters, or at least the 1st half. I have no idea why we were so pass heavy, but AJ slowing down and DeVonta's killer drop -- hit those, and he has a great game. The 1st 2 INTs weren't on him. Then, he just went to hell in the 4th. I think the pressure finally broke him, and Driscoll was useless out there. I don't worry about his mental toughness, and I think he will bounce back.

2. I know, it was Zach Wilson, but have to give huge credit to Desai and the D. 4 turnovers, and the D only gave up 20 points (and they let them score that last TD). Jobe and Ricks looked good, and our secondary was down to basically JB, Jobe, Edmunds and...who knows by the end of the game. Yeah, the Jets O-line sucks, but the D-line feasted again and without Carter. Big time defensive performance.

3. The gameplan...I get they were missing CBs, but come on. That felt like Andy versus the Jags in 2006 throwing 50 times in a hurricane.

4. The last pick...I get that call if the other team had been moving the ball. Do that against the Fins this week, and I'm all for it. But you need to know the opponent. The D is playing well, and that's Zach Wilson having to go get a FG with no timeouts. Just an inexcusable call.

5. Can't really be made at Jake, but still...damn.

6. Lose the TO battle 4-0, huge drops, fluky plays...and we still almost won. This felt so much like the Washington game last year.

7. All that really matters -- how long will Lane be out? I think we have to consider moving Jordan to RT and letting Steen or Johnson play LT. Driscoll was terrible.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I see this team coming out focused and on fire against Miami. We had been playing with fire with TOs the last couple weeks, and it finally bit us. 49ers lost as well, so no ground lost in the NFC. Missed opportunity, but hopefully a wakeup call.

The defense certainly wasn't to blame yesterday, but they haven't had a turnover for 3 weeks. That has to change when the schedule gets tougher. Worth keeping an eye on.

He looked panicked like he didn’t trust what he was seeing or confused and that he didn’t trust  his line to hold up. Last play he had decent blocking but threw the ball falling away when no need too and it got picked. You’re not gonna have lane for a couple weeks. You’re going to have to figure out ways to help Driscoll and hurts is going to have to step up. That’s why you paid him $255 mil this offseason. Cause things are not always going to be perfect every season. Last year with injuries was a rarity to only have maddox moss significant time. If we can’t do that then we are looking at a season similar to what Dak went through last year or gulp what happened to wentz after 2020 which is an alarming amount of turnovers on bad decisions.

We were eating them alive with slants, and getting consistent yards from TE screens and RB check downs - sometimes you need to outflank a heavy box.

I can tell you why they were so pass happy, the Jets were down 4 corners. That doesn’t excuse just being that pass happy when you also were facing an awful run defense and down two oline starters
