That was the craziest 5 mins in the last 30 years!

Slay and Carter practicing as well. Seems like Reed and Roby are missing.

I'm more excited to see the field than the uniforms honestly.

Thanks for the clarification.

Hot take: NFL officiating isn’t getting worse, it’s possibly better than it’s ever been.

We just didn’t have social media to hyperbolize all of the blown calls they were making in the 90’s. If a ref missed 6 blatant holds in a row, no one really cared because the broadcast didn’t have 12 cameras in the stadium with a shot on every player.

I'm probably the only fan who thinks NFL officiating is very good.

Are we having the old eagles logo in the end zone ?

Maybe. Interesting part is there was a soccer game at the Linc Tuesday night and Temple plays a game their tomorrow night. So they won't have much time to turn the field around.

Very good in relative terms…

I’d say it’s about as good as can possibly be expected unless they change the way the game is officiated (more umps, heavier involvement from NY replay desk, reviewable flags).

The refs we have now are top of the line officials. People calling for their heads are so caught up in the moment they don’t realize what they’re asking for. It’s decades of experience that make them proficient at what they do. We saw the stark difference between the best and "even I could do better” with the replacement refs. Literally no one could do it better, and definitely not the college guys.

Please let me **** in peace.  I think the difference is really that the number of penalties has changed for this year in particular.  There have been just over 1400 flags in 93 total games. That's 15 flags a game.  It's a ridiculously high amount but it's not that much higher than last season where it was 13 flags a game on average.  In the 90's, the average was around 11 a game.  They need to put the flags away and only make calls that really impact the game.

Part of the issue is that they are trying to overregulate the game.   Things that used to be legal are now illegal.   There's a 'no touch zone' on QBs now.  There's a period of time when the receiver is literally touching the ball, but you can't hit him because he's 'defenseless', whereas back in the day, that was the exact moment you'd want to smash the guy.

So, the officials are left trying to regulate according to the rules, but the rules are too strict.   I agree that they need to make the calls that actually impact the game, but then people freak out about 'late flags' because the official doesn't throw it until the receiver doesn't make the catch.   Of course, there's no reason to throw the flag if the receiver makes the catch, because the ball will be placed at the same spot either way.  The flag just serves to slow the game down.

Good.  There should be more of that.    These guys doing this crap just want their moment of fame.  Let them have a little momento to remember their trip to CBP by.

Yeah...to spend that kind of money for a playoff ticket and then have a criminal record and pay the legal fees/community service/etc. just to step onto a field and get hit is something I'll never understand. He's also probably banned from MLB games for life.

If he wants a more prominent role, he isn't going to get that here.  Depth option at best where's he maybe 5th in the pecking order.

But it's gotta be more than that, he's got all the opportunity in the world to make a role for himself in Carolina.

I agree and certain flags are too impactful.  There's no reason offensive holding should be a 10 yard penalty or that defensive holding results in an automatic first down.  Make them both 5 yard penalties.  Roughing the passer should not result in a first down if the QB is roughed during a sack unless the 15 yard penalty gives them a first down.
