You can't recover a fumble that goes forward in the end zone on 4th down. I don't think the WSH one was 4th down.

EDIT: @FranklinFldEBUpper covered it

If a ball is fumbled forward on 4th down, it can't be 'advanced' by the fumbling team anywhere on the field.  If the fumbling team recovers the ball... the ball is respotted back to the location of the fumble, and the result of the play is the result of the play.   It's a first down, if they'd already gotten the line to gain... the possession will change if they do not.

So, extending that to the end zone... 4th and goal, if you are in the end zone when you fumble, it's already a TD (as it was with Hurts, though they missed that the ball crossed the goal line on the play live), if not, and the ball is recovered in the end zone, that's an advancement, so the ball goes back out to the spot of the fumble, and there is a change of possession, exactly as it was called.

Equally... a fumble forward cannot occur inside of the final 2 minutes of a half either.     Same rules apply... ball goes back to the spot of the fumble.   And all of this is the result of the rule change after the Holy Roller.

^^^ NFL Films, Holy Roller play.

Rewatching the play... what you see is what would be called an incomplete pass today, as there is clearly a 'forward' moving arm motion by Stabler, even though underhanded.

Damn, I love this team and its fans.  I mean really.  There at all and there early to boot. Even if there are only a few thousand of them that is terrific.

You saw the clip at the last game where they couldn't find ONE AZ fan at CBP?

Same thing happens in Arizona. .  It's just such a transplant city/region.    Not many that live there have deep roots.

Wait how do you imbed it now?

Is Julio Jones the biggest WR acquisition this team has made since Ruben Randle?

Yeah that’s cause most in Arizona don’t care about the dbacks unless they are really good and no one is spending the money to go to Philly to watch them. There’s only like 2 fan bases in Arizona that have a religious like following: university of Arizona basketball (which surprising talks a ton of crap on Twitter and they travel really well) and suns. Everyone else they are frontrunners. Most are transplant fans.

I copy/paste the url from the web browser.  I think the app has some weird redirect to X.com, which won't render in some circumstances.  The work around is to change X to Twitter on the url, and it'll work

I just never did the Twitter update for the app.

The problem here is you not understanding the rules and realizing how those two situations differ. A teammate is allowed to score a touchdown on a fumble recovered in the endzone unless it’s on fourth down. On fourth down, like the Hurts play, a fumble can only be recovered by the player who fumbled. The officials were 100% correct on the Washington play. On the Jets play, they knew the rule but misinterpreted what they saw. And it was ultimately corrected. In the end both plays were adjudicated fairly.

You watch football for all these years and there’s lots of little nuance with the rules I still don’t know about.

Makes sense.  I don't have the app, but I've seen complaints that embedding from some places just won't show until the URL is changed to Twitter.com.

I think its an easy fix  at their end, but they haven't done it

Looks like Edmunds/Sydney Brown/Josiah Scott are starters against the Dolphins…

Part of me thinks they are trying to prevent people who aren’t signed up for X to see it.

And I'd agree. But there is a sneaky way to get around it, if one is inclined. But it's a bit unreliable at times

If this photo is from right now a lot of empty seats.
