Kimbrel is such trash. For all the accolades DD gets, and rightfully so, his signing of an over the hill Kimbrel was a bad one. I said it at the time. Too old, too unreliable, and too much money.

The offense sucked today no doubt but when you walk 2 guys, yeah, that's on you.

the closer's job is to hold the other team from scoring, regardless of how many runs have been scored earlier.   If it was an 8-8 game or a 0-0 game, it doesn't matter.  His job is to keep the game where it is.   He didn't do anything close to that.  The first out of the inning he got (the ONLY out he got) was at home.   Think about that... the ONLY out he got was a desperation, we got to have this out or the game is over, at home.  

 

Kimbrel didn't do his job.   The offense didn't do it's job.  For tomorrow's game, they need to change their approach at the plate from the CBP bomb's away swinging to the big ballpark, put it in play swings.

Because losing in 9 was preferable to losing in 13.   

 thankfully not getting kimbrel tomorrow as he threw 24 pitches so that’s a positive. The issue with kimbrel was he couldn’t find the zone. At that point when you got the first out that was the time to make the move. As soon as he walked perdomo, he was screwed cause he had marte who had been hot and Carroll coming up. He wasn’t getting those two with how he looked. That’s a move you have to make. even if it’s dominguez or soto. At that point you knew kimbrel didn’t have his control. Had to just hope dominguez or soto would. were fortunate to get the out and have runners at 1st and 2nd 1 out. 

They were due for an outing where they made a 3-9, 5.72 ERA rookie look like 1999 Pedro Martinez. 

After a game like tonight you realize you really need hitting 1-9.  Marsh can play CF at a pretty high level and Sosa can play LF.  Sosa hitting 9th would be an immediate upgrade offensively and I really don’t think you’ll lose that much defensively.

Yeah... it almost felt like it was possible.   Really needed the DP to come out on the next hitter if Kimbrel wasn't coming out.  

Tomorrow AZ is sending out the bullpen.  Should dink and dunk the crap out of that.

Concerning that they were 0-4 with Risp. Game 2 they were 5-7. Game 2 is about the only game they hit extremely well with Risp. Even with Stott’s grand slam in game 2 vs. the marlins they were 2-9. And the 10 run outburst vs. atlanta that was their second best mark of the playoffs at 3-10. Game 2 is seemingly the outlier as the other 8 playoff games they are 14-69 (.203).

I still want to protest the lack of curling on the list.   I nominated that as the lead topic, and it wasn't even seconded.   Just a really disrespectful response to the greatest Olympic sport ever.
