Joey Porter Jr in place of Smith would be an option.   That's not going to fix the LB issue, but it would help the CBs.

You're asking the biggest Ivan Pace fan here who was calling for him MONTHS before the draft. He went undrafted and is grading out as not only the best rookie LB but one of the best LB so far this year.

They need to finish this in the end zone.

I’m not sure they had many other options.  Howie’s instincts were correct in that he demonstrated zero attachment to Slay or Bradberry.  I don’t think he wanted to give them money, but there was no choice.

CJGJ, I suspect, wanted out.  I think those negotiations went south and personal and that was a lost cause.

If I would have done something differently, it would be trading out of the 2nd and taking Steen.  He’s not a prototypical RG AND he’s not in the depth picture as a rookie.  So that’s the pick I probably would have tried to force into the secondary.  

Why did he leave the pocket?   

Hurts was so good in the pocket all day, but he bailed early on that one.
