I know the Jets are supposed to "suck", but if you look at the games today, an AFC team has beaten every NFC team they played against. That included the mighty 49ers.

And I don't know what's the overall AFC vs NFC record this year, but I think the AFC is especially strong this year, except for total trash teams like the Pats or Colts.

By that token I think we have to be emotionally prepared to go 0-3 against the Dolphins, KC, and Bills. I feel like this just isn't the NFC's year.

You’re just now realizing the AFC is better?

Oh, by the way, Detroit beat KC.

Offense tried their absolute best to lose.

and

Eagles lost as a result....

Move on...

The Jets defense is legit, they have better secondary depth than us and Brian Johnson decided to call a terrible game (Lane is down, how about we try another slow developing 45 yard shot?), it was absurd.

I have wondered if we're experiencing another early 2000s NFC/AFC period when the AFC was the stronger conference.

Obviously the AFC is considered to be better.  The Jets also have a very good defense. Last week some TV talking heads were talking about how strong their D line is and would give the Eagles a hard time.

Bengals, Bills and Chiefs have had games where they struggled this year.  Losses, barely beating teams they would be expected to blowout.  Even last year, the Chiefs lost to the Colts.

Weird things happen every year where the best teams lose to teams they shouldn't, or struggle in games you think they will dominate.  Then these same teams will bounce back and play really well even against better opponents.

I think its more of a "are the eagles actually any good" view

Could be some truth to that.

No shame in losing to a team on the road that was better Coached and hungrier for the Win.

The shame is the Eagles Offensive execution, pass to run ratio, horrible play calling, and bad 2nd half QB play.

The OC is a huge failure.

The QB is regressing quickly through first 6 games.

Sirianni won't address either issue head on.

Injuries are piling up.

This is likely not their year.

Same old Eagles.

29th ranked run defense says they're not legit... but no worries the Eagles won't dare run against that

Siri is part of the issue... he designs the plays and makes play calls

We're supposed to have one of the strongest O Lines in the NFL and yet the 29th ranked rush defense sure looked like they were stopping our few attempts at running pretty handily.

What measure were they 29th on? They're #1 for number of carries faced (a symptom of being behind most weeks) and #4 for fewest rushing TD's allowed (a symptom of being better than advertised).

Didn't he give up play calling in year 1 to Steichen because he was bad at it?

Did Siri take it over again? If so why?

Nick and the coaches will gameplan during the week but Brian Johnson calls the plays during the game

Nick has said he's overruled a few times though

The eagles gave the jets every opportunity to win that game and it took until the last 2 minutes to do it......the eagles should have won that game, but certainly didn't deserve to....

And it doesn't matter if the AFC is better......to get to a super bowl, divisional and conference games are more important than non-conference games.

In his PC, Siri was asked about play calling. He said Brian does a good job, and they always review for accountability and improvement. He noted that if they determine the issue is the play design, then he takes responsibility for that.

You know we don’t need a thread made every time someone has a random thought. The Eagles kind of went into this game underestimating their opponent, and then they got hit with a rash of injuries. They couldn’t figure out how to run the ball and they panicked throwing way more than they should have. Once Johnson went down, Hurts was pretty much under duress for the rest of the game and there were time he felt pressure that wasn’t there. The team as a whole lacked focus which led to several critical errors and turnovers. You usually don’t win losing the turnover battle 4 to nil. The Eagles fell into the "trap game” overlooking the Jets (who are better than they thought they were) thinking about Miami.

Overlooking the Jets looking to the Miami game should mean they spent two weeks preparing to play Miami. They better have an AMAZING game plan prepared for this game. No excuses for real.

Well they still have that gaping hole at RT, but to me it seemed like the Eagles decided to rest some guys to get them healthier, but also they didn’t think they would need them to beat the Jets. Turns out they were wrong.

No they aren't better.

It's good that he doesn't throw others under the bus. Ultimately, it is Siri's responsibility to fix the problems. Rookie OC is a real factor. Hopefully by next year things are running smoother. I prefer it when RB's run the ball and QB's throw the ball and the exceptions to that should be few as circumstances dictate.
