Eagles trade for Titans S Kevin Byard, send Edmunds and 2024 5th & 6th round picks

Featured Replies

How many former Titans do we have on the team now? At least 3, right? Mariota, Brown and now Byard. Any others that I'm forgetting about or just didn't know were former Titans?

Looks like he will cost $2.4 million for the rest of the season. Pretty good deal for us.

Great move by Howie to upgrade the position. It was a must.

Howie must be giving Amy Adams the deek…AJ Brown and now this?  If true, for a 5th and a 6th?

I thought you meant the other Amy Adams...

I never knew Byard was from Philly.....

He was born here and moved to GA when he was 14

I don't know much about Byard but ANYONE is an upgrade from Edmunds

Wow.  He's one of the best safeties in the league with 2-3 years of high caliber play potentially still in front of him.  Even if it's a rental, it's worth it for a 5th and a 6th.

Boy, it didn't take them long to ship Edmunds out of town after last night's debacle 😂

He's not a 1-year rental so that's a plus. And we don't have to see Edmunds anymore. He's due 14.1 million next year which is a lot more than the Eagles normally pay a safety so maybe they'll look to rework his deal if that's possible.

My impression is that they've already re-worked his deal and that he'll essentially be a free agent after this season.  I could be wrong though.

Seems like a one year rental. Deal isn’t up but it would have resulted in a hold out which is why titans were fine to let him go

I see people saying that but OTC shows him under contract next year so I don't know either. I guess you can cut him for nothing next year if needed though.

Tennsylvania.  Come on bro that was easy :P

I'm reppin down here.  I am feeding their GM info and orchestrating these trades.  You're welcome.

Technically he is under contract for next year, but it's hard to see the Eagles taking that cap hit with Hurts set to make way more and other guys to clear out money for.

Contract Notes
Kevin Byard renegotiated his contract with the Titans in 2023, reducing his salary by $3.1 million and having $7 million of his remaining salary guaranteed as a signing bonus. In 2024 Byard can earn a $4 million roster bonus in March. The final two years of the contract are void years for cap purposes. The new contract reduced Byard's salary cap number by $8.35 million in 2023.

I think he is still under contract for 2024, but the cap hit would be 14 million and there is seemingly no dead money in cutting him. It's highly unlikely the Eagles can keep a 31 year old safety on that basis, so maybe that's what people meant by one year rental. They could of course try and agree another restructure.

The cap hit is very low this year.

good move

One of my coworkers is a huge Titans (formerly an Oilers) fan, but I told him there’s so many Titans on the Eagles he might as well switch teams. 😂
