October 30, 20231 yr He was abused in coverage all day and then made a good play on a ball that was thrown right to him. In general, I like him but I don't think he's nearly as good as a lot of Eagles fans want to believe he is.

Not making excuses, but it's possible his ribs aren't 100% yet.

That tells me the scheme and game plan overall were bad. Desai has been pretty solid so far but not today. The defensive philosophy today was man to man coverage, no over the top help, giving the receivers a 5-7 yard cushion to just freely run their route uncontested. What was the result of this genius level mastermind plan? Some dude named Howell looking like the greatest QB of all time with almost a 100% completion percentage for the vast majority of the game.

Playing decent considering he was next to a bum Edmunds, and a rookie in Brown who looks promising but already had an injury. Byard will need a couple more weeks to integrate. He didn't have a great game today, but made a huge play. They let CJG walk and relied on Reed, scrubs & a 3rd round rookie. Let's see how it goes as Byard gets more comfortable.
October 30, 20231 yr Probably his worst game as an Eagle, but it was his first game back from injury and I don’t think his DC did him any favors in this one.
October 30, 20231 yr Yeah, one bad game is allowed. Overall, he has developed nicely. Probably never be a star but a solid player would be good enough.
October 30, 20231 yr The kid is a nice story, he does a cute dance but he doesn’t move the needle. Why does he deserve his own topic? Was it the cute dance or the fact that he caught a pass thrown at his numbers?
October 30, 20231 yr Ummmm ok I’m going to try and be positive here he has better hands than Bradberry
October 30, 20231 yr Is Blankenship this week's post-win gripe target? I was expecting Gainwell. I didn't log in prepared.

October 30, 20231 yr The INT was huge at a huge moment in the game there’s no doubt about that. But Reed was really really poor yesterday.

That was a terrible throw by Howell…right into Blankenship’s belly. Glad he caught it. Other than the gift, Blankenship was awful. He missed tackles and was beaten in coverage most of the day. Let’s hope that Sidney develops and that Byard can integrate quickly and settle in, because he wasn’t impressive either but he has only been in the building a few days.

We've seen a lot of passes dropped that hit our DBs in the hands this year so I'm going to give him his credit.

He did it with Howell not once... twice. He had the defense on their heels all game. Everything he called seemed to have players running wide open.

Yeah I think Byard gets a slight pass for that. He was barely in the building and was thrown in without much, if any, practice time. Hopefully Reed just had one of those days as for the most part he’s been a pretty good solid safety.

But yeah I saw the videos of him dancing and thought it would be a FUN post after a WIN. The guy is a 2nd year UDFA, what more do you expect from him? Considering the state of the safety position he's been playing well, today wasn't a good game for him but same for all the veterans in the secondary like Slay and Bradberry.

To say I am bashing Hurts "all of the time” is a blatant exaggeration. Have I been tough on him? You bet. But I’ve also commended him for good play as I did in the recent Hurts thread that was down on him. But that’s got nothing to do with calling out Blankenship for a piss poor game and seeing a silly jawn devoted to a guy that’s a JAG. Damn, you ever even been to Philly?

Like I said, it was a fun thread. You even admitted a nice story. He's an UDFA who became a starter. Your last sentence is irrelevant to the topic, but yeah my family is from Philly, I'm from Bensalem and yes been to Philly lots, what does that have to do with it.

Not to mention that the guy starting across the field at strong safety joined the team (checks notes) last Wednesday. So yeah, it might take a minute for those guys to adjust. 7-1, the best team in the NFL to this point, the kid makes a clutch play and we get TATE.

We don’t go for fanboys in Philly.
