I think Cooper should have been fired. There's not a single person in this country that doesn't know what the N word means. It's why we say the N word and not the actual word. 

Desean is a different situation. For starters we desperately need a deep threat. He can easily play ignorance and that he was trying to quote something Farrakhan said using Hitler. I know we all know you shouldn't ever use Hitler as a good example. I just think Desean can easily play dumb. If he was cut I wouldn't bat an eye.

So I checked out the cnn article which I usually read with suspicion but it does look like this writer did post some pretty savage comments.

 

i think you have to bear in mind it looks like he was posting in 4chan and everything I’ve heard about that area of the internet is that there’s no holds barred there.   So saying something outrageous in that arena to me isn’t so bad.  Just keep the inflammatory language there

 

also I think society is too intolerant of racism.  All races have racists.  Just because you’re a racist first doesn’t mean you don’t have anything valuable or intelligent to add to a conversation at all.  That goes for black/white/Jewish racists.  Second, it doesn’t mean you’re necessarily wrong about something.  
 

I would say respect all speech, don’t fire anyone.

also bear in mind some people go into boards like this and "concern troll” meaning they have to display a certain amount of agreement with other potentially racist posters in order to chip away at their beliefs in other posts

There are certain racists who are only racists because they believe in biological realism, as in your genes determine your fate and certain races have different genes.  It’s hard to read articles of people who write from that viewpoint because it makes your stomach churn but at bottom I can’t find fault with the basic premise

the conclusion those racists usually come to is that Asians and Jews are superior, oddly enough.  If you read Neffs quip about Asians I could see a bit of satire in it

Was affirmative action's intent to justify the use of slurs and racial jokes in the workplace, or to chip away at the inequality brought about by slavery and the ensuing decades of Jim Crow laws that ensured that America always had a lower caste of minorities to help it's lower caste of majority feel better about themselves? 

Can't tell if you're doing a comedic bit, or if you really consider those two things on the same plane.

Jim Crow laws are categorically different from the decisions of a private business.  You conflating them in your posts either demonstrates ignorance or a fundamental disagreement about government
