Im probably answering my own question but it all comes down to defensive scheme.

The 49ers D played like it was do or die today. They were super aggressive, blitzed and threw tons of weird looks. They even stacked 11 players on the line one time that confused the hell out of the Jags and caused a false start. The result? 4 turnovers, a blowout.

Its not like the 9ers O were amazing, but the D was just relentess and making plays nonstop.

Why cant we do that?

My god man will you envy a new team every week they beat someone? Besides I thought the Lions were the new team you were scared of?

Don't forget there are a few games that looked a lot closer than they actually were and only look close because of garbage time scores.

Is this a thread because the Cowboys blew out the Giants?

The playoff seeding is based on wins.

Not style points. Not point differential. Not team stat rankings. Not individual player stats or awards.

As our QB1 says: "Winning is the only thing that matters."

And of course with the Eagles leading the league at 8-1, on a bye, opa watching the Cowboys beat up on the Giants who suck, he's gotta go full opa.

Im not worried about those teams, but blowouts are good once in a while to build confidence. It shows you have a killer instinct and can close out games. Good teams SHOULD blow out inferior teams once in a while. Other good teams can do it. Why cant we?

Anyways, i dunno whats gonna happen in KC. But if we dont blow out the Bills and 3ints per game Josh Allen, im gonna be very disappointed.

Btw it doesnt have to be 34 to 3 or 40 to 10. I mean like winning by three scores or more. We havent even done that yet.

We’re the best team in the NFL have been during the regular season for almost 2 straight years. That means, we’re gonna get every team’s BEST SHOT. It also means unlike those other teams that DIDNT make it to the Super Bowl (49ers and cowboys) the Eagles are gonna be under the microscope of every single coach and team in the nfl during the off-season. The Eagles are circled on the schedule of every team we’ve faced and will face this year. The same can’t be said for any other team but KC.

but hey if you wanna cry more about worthless things like style points….. maybe you should be a cowboys fan.

Blowouts also lead to teams smelling themselves.  Don't mind one every now and again for my anxiety

You think the Cowboys didnt give their best shot against the 49ers? Or the Jags didnt really try hard today?

I dunno man i just feel like so far this team has been playing not to lose...you know what i mean? Can that kind of style take u to a Superbowl?

Not taking into account the record results of the games so far played today (only the teams that played one another so far) the Cowboys have defeated zero teams with winning records. The 49ers and Eagles are both tied at three. Teams the Cowboys have defeated (again not taking into account the game results of today) are 15-30. The records of the teams the 49ers defeated are 24-30 while the Eagles opponents are 29-35. These numbers will fluctuate once this week of games are over, but let’s be clear the Eagles are beating better opponents than both the 49ers and the Cowboys. The Cowboys have literally beaten no one and scored nearly 90 points on the Giants in two games. Does that mean they’re good? Reminds me of that game two years ago when the Cowboys beat our backups 51-26. Now I ask you @opa-opa what "confidence” did that give the Cowboys when they got bounced in the wildcard game in the first round of the playoffs? Beating cupcakes in blowouts only bring a false sense of security.

Have we had garbage time? I’ve only recalled weekly heart attacks at the end of games

Winning the SB will make this all go away...for a while.

They held the Dolphins offense (that a lot of people feared) to 10 points and scored 31.

I think being the best team in the league and being able to dominate in the 2nd half and close games out builds confidence. The unstoppable Brotherly Shove, high success rates on 3rd & 4th down, a QB who leads & never quits or lets mistakes shake him builds confidence. Strength on both lines builds confidence.

Wins build confidence.

Btw the 49ers in the previous 3 games lost.

This is the team you want to be like?

The Eagles don’t get blown out either.

Heck they barely lose.

@opa-opa you need this energy

Maybe great teams don’t want to show off all their best plays and playmakers before the playoffs in meaningless games. Knuckleheads who annually underperform like Dallas do things like that - Bill Belicheck in his prime, never did.

I blew out your girls back last night, does that count?

We are the best team in the NFL because we have the best record. I don’t think we should look at what other teams do and compare it to what we have done. The NFL is very week to week. I mean the Cards just beat the Falcons. The Browns just beat the Red hot Ravens.

That said… I do think it is still fair to ask the question about how good we are. I don’t think we yet know. We know we are a very good team. We’ve beaten Miami and we beat Dallas so we are a good team. I just don’t think we know how good because we’ve been involved in a number of close games against bad teams. The next 3-4 weeks will tell us a lot. Win 2 of the next 3 and there’s absolutely no doubt we are SB favourites. But right now I can’t quite get to that point.
