It seems as though Grant Calcaterra injured his ankle so I'm hoping to see Okwuegbunam in action, that 6'5'', 255lbs, with a 4.49 40 could be trouble for opposing Ds.

Didn't Stoll get banged up too? Saw him limping around.

One of the two, I thought it was Calc, maybe it was both.

We are getting paper-thin at the position, hopefully Goedert returns for the Dallas game as projected.

It would be a great story if this guy amounted to something in our offense. I have no expectations at this point. If he is a liability as a blocker, I doubt he'll contribute much. Without Goedert we tried to use an extra WR or RB at times and KC just blitzed their DBs knowing they aren't much of a threat nor effective at picking up blitzes and we gave up 5 sacks in the 1st half. We may be better off bringing in an OT as an eligible receiver just to help Hurts have more time in the pocket.

Long as that thing is fully healed wouldn't hurt having him back.

Playing in a cast is fun.

When he returns, he's more likely to wear the elbow brace like Gronk wore after his forearm fractures or like DeVonta Smith wore.

TE needs to be addressed in the upcoming draft.  After Goedert we have Stoll who is more of a blocker than receiver and Calcaterra who has an extensive injury history (concussions primarily that caused him to retire from football for a period).  I wouldn't be surprised if we added another TE on day 2 or early day 3.

I mean, we gave up a pick and have held him on the roster all season, we may as well see what he has with Goedert out and the other two TEs on the roster nicked up and underwhelming as pass catchers.

I thought for sure we'd be seeing him starting to get worked into the game plan more by now.  Strange to have traded for him and not use him.  Ditto Penny (minus the trade part).

Dude has the physical traits, but I’m not ready to assume this guy is going to be good. The Broncos were going to cut this guy before they traded him to Philly. He’s only out there now because Goedert was hurt, and Jalen rarely throws to players he doesn’t trust. I’m not expecting much.

I agree. We’d ideally like to get someone early who has the potential to start in a couple years like we did with Goedert, but at worst we have use one of those 5ths on one to provide better depth.

I'm with you on that ... have to figure with all the injuries at the position and he still can't get into the game plan there has to be a lack of trust in what he can do.

Trust generally begins with risk.  The coaches and Hurts need to try it with this guy, at least a little, and see if he steps up.  If he does, then further trust is earned.  But the choice to take a chance has to come first.

Right, I thought the same thing about Penny and even Ringo who's a great athlete, I would have thought the coaches would have found a role for him by now......must be the coaches.

I'm sure he'll step up more than what Stoll and Calc has, just look at his college and Denver highlights.

It takes a lot more than h/w/s for a TE, but it helps.  He is probably far too raw to be versatile, but we are missing our TE screen.  If he runs so well, that’s a great opportunity to get something out of him that we are missing.  It doesn’t take several games of settling in to run that.

He should have a chance to play this game, when we have 2 TEs unavailable.  Will the coaches trust him to play?  At least, let him show what he can do in real game.

We don’t exactly know what’s happening behind the scenes though. He’s had plenty of time to learn this off, but is he actually picking things up. Is he dropping passes in practice? There could be many reason why he’s not getting opportunities. Sometimes the risk isn’t greater than the reward. I hope I’m wrong though and he comes out looking like he’s a keeper.
