Well the Chiefs lost to the 6-6 Packers. So there's that.

We'd lose to them too.  Honestly this is a 10-2 team that should be a 5-7 team.  One and done in the postseason.

Its just nuts to think we were asking Nicholas Morrow and Christian Ellis to stop Deebo, Aiyuk, Kittle, and McCaffrey.

The entire backside of the defense needs to be rebuilt over the next few years. Its not gonna be pretty. We dont have a single star player back there right now.

I hate this offense. This "scheme" (if you can call it that) is so basic, especially compared to what other playoff contenders run. It's not quite as bad as Chip Kelly's Tecmo Bowl offense, but it's close.

Reality is that the Niners when healthy are really hard to stop unless you have a complete Defense which we clearly don't. Our LB'ers are one of the worst LB units in the league. Our Corners are over the hill ... they are neither quick nor explosive to the ball at this point in their careers, they just can't keep up. Blankenship was a nice story, and he would be a solid backup, but he's not starter material. There's a lot of mediocrity in this league and our Offense is good enough where Jalen can usually bail the team out when they get down ... but against a complete team like the Niners it's going to bite you in the ass.

Offensively I continue to have no idea what Brian Johnson is doing. Do we have a different running play in the playbook other than jamming the RB into the back of Cam Jurgens up the gut?? There is zero imagination or creativity to our playbook. No counters, no pitches, no reverses ... no bunching receivers. Our playbooks are pure vanilla on both sides of the ball.

The good thing is that aside from the Niners there is really no complete teams out there ... plus we get back Goedert and our 1 at least mediocre LB in Zach Cunningham this week. If we can find a way to take care of the Cowpies we are still in the lead for that 1st Rd bye. Hopefully the coaches at least learn something from this beatdown if we face the Niners again in the playoffs.

Anyone else still pissed?

I am absolutely pissed off.

This team has made zero improvements all season long. We lost this game for the same exact reasons we let the Patriots hang around in week one.

Granted, the 49ers are a really good team.  But this game showed us what we've been seeing all year....when the other team doesn't make mistakes and their players actually catch the ball and make plays, this is what we look like.  The way we've won games this year just isn't sustainable and it definitely doesn't work when we play a good team who plays mistake-free football.

The defense is just downright awful.  And honestly, I can't place much blame on Desai.  We have 0 talent in the back 7.  The DL has some talent but they can be neutralized too often.  The sad part is, for the back 7, is that there won't be any quick fix and the future looks grim.

The offense still looks like they just don't know what they're doing most of the time.  I mean, it's incomprehensible.  All season they just literally look like they don't have a plan...or at best, they have a "couple plays" that they try before going back to their usual.  The offense is Sirriani.  BJ is the play caller.  Both have sucked this year.  Hurts, for as brilliant as he can be and has been (mostly) this year, still has some baffling traits.  He still bails the pocket too early and I'm not sure he sees the field very well.  Yesterday he was inexplicably holding the ball for forever before throwing it away or tripping and taking a horrendous sack.  Either he isn't finding the open guy or the receivers just don't know what to do once the initial play-call breaks down.

It's gonna be very interesting to see how this team responds this week against Dallas.  Extra motivated after getting punched in the face yesterday or what we saw yesterday is what we will get?  The realistic side of me says Dallas will beat us, not as bad as San Fran, but still beat us decidedly.

The good news is even if we lose to Dallas, we would still control our destiny for the division.  The bad news is, with the way this team has played all year, the last 4 games against Seattle, Arizona and NY twice are not "gimmies".  Seattle's offense will kill us.  Arizona has been playing better and so has NY.

It is going to be very interesting to see how they react from this. The problem? The issues the Niners exploited are the same issues we’ve been seeing most of the year. Those issues aren’t going to be resolved after this loss because they can’t be resolved. This team has major issues at key positions.

A lot of this imo has to do with Brian Johnson or Sirianni not being anywhere near the play caller Steichen was. Zero innovation on Offense ... especially on running plays. How many times did we run left behind Mailata and Dickerson yesterday? Did we even try it once? And the route trees are all deep balls aside from a couple of slants to AJ (which worked great and then we stopped calling them) ... where's the short game? It can't all be on Jalen and I don't think the coaching staff is helping much at all. Hoping the return of Goedert helps out a good deal for the Cowpie game.

Nah they have to win this dallas game and seattle game to keep the pressure on. Dont want to bank on other teams losing.

I'm not saying they can afford to drop the next 2, just this next game.  I think we all want them to win it, but we have to be serious about what they're heading into, and the state of our defense.  I won't be shocked if they get trucked again, because the defense is awful and the playcalling isn't where it needs to be.

Agreed on every single point here. Only delusional people can see anything else or see that we are this 'elite' team that has the best record in the NFL. The way this team has played all season was going to eventually get exposed by someone who is actually a good team. I have actually turned the tv off several times this year because of how bad they have played as far as the defense is concerned....I knew this kind of game was coming sooner or later and I hate it for fans who attended that mess in person....it was truly embarrassing.....

I get 'any given sunday' but yesterday truly exposed this defense and gave the rest of the league yet another blueprint on how to demolish the Birds....I am always goingt to be a fan but I am also always going to be realistic. I have hated this defense for awhile now and its done nothing but gotten worse.....

It's worse than Chip Kelly's or at least it was last night, last night our only play was have Jalen drop back and just wait for someone to open up downfield,  we call slants once in a blue moon and last night we had an actual screen to Smith work for the first time in forever. but we don't call enough intermediate stuff, it's constantly all or nothing, trying for a chunk when we only need 6 yards for a first. It's dumb as rocks and in games like last night it leaves us in a hole on 3rd and 9 or 10.

All I know is if they don't get the #1 seed chances of Superbowl are slim to none. Offense has to carry the team because that's how the team is constructed. No miracles happening with this defense, this scheme, and this personnel this year

Only their second loss after playing 3 games in what 13 days. Stop the panic. The defense was clearly washed from last week. They'll play a much better game when fresher. San Fran caught them at a good time

I think perversely the loss last night might be the best thing to happen for this team, I said a couple of weeks back that my big concern is that this team gets high on their own farts thinking they can half ass big chunks of a game and still pull it out when it matters, last night was a big old wake up call and it's come at a time when it isn't fatal to our hopes.

Everybody will get all panicky about Dallas now but they aren't that good and will have their own problems in the coming weeks anyway, but hopefully the players and coordinators know now that they need to be 100% from minute 1 to minute 60, and not like they were against Buffalo, being sure we were going to win regardless of the position.

Also our fans need to stop pretending we were lucky to beat ten teams this year and have a win streak against teams over .500 that was historically good.  Good teams can still get their ass kicked every now and again, it doesn't instantly make them a bad team.

Well I think it's safe to say home field doesn't mean a damn thing after watching that game.

I don’t think we can overlook how bad that was yesterday coupled with it being the same issues we’ve seen most weeks. That for me is the concern. It isn’t the loss as such because losses were inevitable. It was the manner of the loss being everything we knew with this team.

Yeah, it was just a matter of time before we saw something like this (if you've been keeping it real, that is).  The Eagles have just been fortunate that most other teams have flaws and make mistakes too.  Dallas and Seattle are gonna roll our D.  We will have to rely 100% on offense and hope the other team...makes mistakes!

There is a HUGE difference between panicking and being realistic after what we have seen all season long. They have played like this and its been a normal ;bend but don't break' philosophy forever now.....but tell you what....let's revisit this in exactly one week and if they are fresher, like you say, I will GLADLY eat crow here in front of everybody......

Agreed. When Pederson was here it seemed like he could scheme guys open and figure out how to exploit mismatches. One of my favorite things he used to do was figure out creative ways to use Sproles as a weapon. I feel like they could do similar things with Swift but there's just no creativity there.

I see a lot of panic. Both teams will be completely different come play off time. There is a lot of football to play and there's no telling what teams we will see come January.
Case in point... could have Dallas back, Cunningham back, who knows what happens with Shaq. Does Maddox make it back for playoffs? Do we get any more injuries? Does San Fran get anyone back or any more injuries. I'll pass on the doom and gloom after a game that most of us had a gut feeling they would lose mostly because how the game fell in the schedule and after the effort expended vs Buffalo and KC in such a short span.

Still using the schedule excuse? 49ers played 3 games in 11 days and won by all 3 of those games by double digits. Btw that was prior to our matchup with them yesterday. The last 4 weeks Eagles have played 4 games in 28 days (had a bye after the 1st game) and 49ers have played 4 games in 21 days! Stop making excuses.

Duly noted but my point stands: the defense has been atrocious not just this entire season but for awhile now. No corners, no LB'ers and the bend but dont break philosophy is why teams almost ALWAYS convert on 3rd and longs....

It's not doom and gloom, its actually seeing things for what they actually are and this defense as a whole is HORRIBLE.....you won't make it far that way unless the offense can make up for it....

But my other point stands as well....if they do well in Dallas, I will come back to this thread and eat crow.....count on it....

Eagles aren't San Fran. Have you seen the difference in how the defense is constructed and schemed. Point is we don't know how any of the playoff teams will look in 5 to 6 weeks. ie How did San Fran look without Deebo and their LT?  You're missing my point.

They looked like a competitive team that still had a chance to win those games. I see what you mean but it's been 13 weeks and the Eagles look exactly the same as week 1. Nothing has changed really, don't expect much to change in the next 5 weeks
