Actually, it may be better to get the #2 seed.  I've posted this already.  Yes you don't get the bye but you are still guaranteed two home games assuming you win and Dallas would have to play SF in the Divisional round most likely as Detroit would be the division winner.  You wouldn't see SF until the NFCCG.

They need the bye with how they're undoubtedly going to be banged up. You don't want a 49ers team getting that rest.

Yeah, on a crap field, as both defenses didn't do much of anything in the SB. Last year's defense was definitely good, but this year they're pretty awful due to players leaving and injuries.

We still using that excuse for why the secondary got burned but JAGs?

It wasn't about the secondary, you have an historic d-line with 70 sacks that was able to generate zero pressure on Mahomes because they were on ice skates.  Basically that field made the Eagles defense equal KC's.  We needed the Eagles defense to be the Eagles defense to attempt to stop Mahomes more than they did.

If you watch the All 22 you can see the sideline space Hurts had to run all game long yet kept forcing the pass. The Niners just rushed 4 almost every down and dropped everyone into coverage. Hurts would have had a field day running with the defenders downfield and backs turned. That falls on coaching ... how the Birds didn't take advantage of this is criminal. Goes back to this coaching staff wanting to simply win with the pass and ignoring advantages in other aspects. Jalen could have easily ran for 80-100 this game with the protection the OL gave him.

Let it go man. I did. You should too. With the amount of money and talent that was invested in the secondary they should have still held up better than they did. Not one stop when they needed it. They had everyone back and healthy for that game as well smh. Not buying that field excuse anymore.

Perhaps they learned from last year. You have to pick your spots. This isn't a game you unleash Hurts to run around (who knows how his knee is) coming off 3 games in 13 days or whatever. That's how he got hurt in Chicago and we lost him for 2 games and damn near lost home field advantage and the bye. Would the win have been nice. Yes. But not at the cost of getting your recovering QB banged up for subsequent games against a rested 49ers defense. Damn near lost him in the game with him not running that much. Unleash that QB running stuff this week (Dallas game is more important than the niners game) and the playoffs.

This loss was probably pretty well timed. They were getting high on their own farts thinking they can come in and just play one half of football, turning it on in the 4th like a light switch. IMO the defense was always going to need to be protected by the offense heading into this season. The offense is where all the investment has gone while the defense is, well, what we saw. This should be no surprise when the offense shets the bed they're going to get blown out. There's really no excuse for the offense to play that bad. Other than the obvious poor play calling, Hopefully they can regroup for the home stretch. F*** Dallas.

That makes sense ... gotta leave it on the field against Dallas though.
