Jadeveon Clowney is interested in signing with the Eagles and Howie Roseman must get it done

Star pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney has interest in joining the Eagles

Here we are in early July and standout pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney is still a free agent waiting to sign a contract with a team in need of a stud defensive end. Could that team end up being the Philadelphia Eagles?

Per a report, Clowney has interest in multiple organizations, including the boys from the City of Brotherly Love. If the Eagles are serious about winning the NFC East again and making a push for a deep postseason run in the prime of Carson Wentz’s career, the front office needs to go out and land Clowney.

Signing Jadeveon Clowney should be a priority for the Philadelphia Eagles

General manager Howie Roseman is a magician when it comes to making great deals and moves for the Eagles. Things should be no different here. While Philly won’t be able to afford to sign Clowney to a monster, multi-year deal, why not go get him for a one-year prove-it kind of contract?

Clowney’s market has significantly shrunk, and there’s no chance he’s going to get a four or five-year deal. However, if the dollars are right, the Eagles could bring him in on a short-term deal in 2020, which is the expectation for the kind of contract Clowney will end up signing.

The Seahawks are obviously also interested in bringing Clowney back, as the 6-5, 255-pounder is coming off a 2019 in which he posted 31 tackles, three sacks and an interception returned for a touchdown.

For Clowney, of course he cares about the money, but it looks like the priority for him is to join a competitive team. The Eagles have the pieces to make plenty of noise in the NFC, but are a couple parts away from really sending themselves over the top.

Adding a guy like Clowney would make the defense even stronger and instill plenty of fear into the Dallas Cowboys. It’d be a win-win for both parties. All eyes are now on Roseman. Let’s see if he can get something done.

He’s. Not. That. Good.

Jesus, this dude is like the Sam Bradford of defensive ends. Consistently overhyped because he was a #1 pick despite being an average to slightly above average player.

Vet minimum on a 1 year prove it deal. If he signs that, he wants to be here and win.

spoiler alert: he wouldn't sign that...ever.
