Will A PENALTY in the Jets-Giants game (Week 8) cost the Giants a playoff berth?

It didn't look like it would matter at the time, however...

If you remember in Week 8, the Giants were about to beat the Jets when they had an injured Graham Gano go out to kick what would have been a field goal that put the Giants up 6 with not much time left.  He misses, the Jets take over and have a long play where the ball is caught at midfield with 17 seconds left. Giants commit a defensive penalty that is declined, but because of the flag the clock stops.  Jets get another long gain and are able to spike the ball with ONE second left in regulation, allowing Greg Zuerlin to kick a game-tying field goal.  The Jets would then win in OT on another field goal, all because of that penalty.

Without that penalty, the Giants are 6-7 and suddenly in a six-way tie for the final playoff berth in the NFC and actually would probably have it.

And Mahomes would've won 3 Super Bowls by now, if Dee Ford hadn't gotten that penalty in the AFC Championship Game and let the Patriots into Super Bowl LIII.

Yeah, BUT.....

The one I'm talking about is specific because without that penalty, the Jets have to rush to midfield and spike the ball and barring a hail mary touchdown have no chance to win that game against the Giants.

Who cares if the Giants get a playoff berth? They'd just get trounced like they did last year.

If Bradberry doesn't get flagged at the end of SB LVII, do the Eagles win the Super Bowl?

Yeah. You’re probably right

The Giants are trash, there’s no chance they were making the playoffs.

The Giants will cause the Giants to miss the playoffs

Now they are all but officially eliminated.
