2012 Super Bowl champion Ravens, like 2023 Eagles, made late in-season coordinator change

The Philadelphia Eagles' shocking decision this weekend to move Sean Desai to the coaching booth and have Matt Patricia call the defensive players is not unprecedented, as Joe Giglio pointed out.

In fact, just weeks before winning the Super Bowl in February of 2013, the Baltimore Ravens did something similar on December 10th, 2012.

"The Ravens were 9-4, Eagles obviously they're 10-3," Giglio said on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show. "The Ravens were in first place at 9-4. They had had back to back loses. You know what they did Hugh? After their 13th game? They fired their offensive coordinator. They fired Cam Cameron and they put in Jim Caldwell, who was the quarterbacks coach at the time and they made him the coordinator. Six, seven, eight weeks later whatever it was, Joe Flacco plays the best football his life under a new coordinator and they win the Super Bowl."

"It's not that long ago, we saw a team fire a coordinator while they're winning...This could work. I'm not sure it's going to, but it could."

The Eagles' defense was struggling mightily under Desai, so a fresh look may help them turn things around.
