I don't care how cheapish Siri, Howie and co. might feel about about crawling back to Desai.  This defense was average at worst under his watch.  Under Patricia, they have faced three of the worst offenses in the league and had the life slowly drained from them each time.  They've been terrible on 3rd down, terrible in the redzone, terrible at generating negative plays and terrible at forcing turnovers.  It is the single most elementary, misapplied scheme I have ever seen from an Eagles defensive coordinator.  On paper, it may look like they're "limiting the big play" and "making them go the length of the field," but it matters not when QBs are making simpler reads on 3rd down than they ever did in college.

I'm not trying to make this an anti-analytics thing, because most analytics people I know aren't total idiots.  But this is almost exactly what it would look like if you took a stat intro course and then thought you could run an insurance company.  Or maybe he really is a genius and our players just aren't smart enough to recognize it.  Either way, I know players have hated this guy everywhere he's been.  Everywhere he's been, fans have begged to help him pack his bags.  In an alternate universe where our brass doesn't totally panic after two bad games, maybe we're 13-3 right now and in the driver's seat for the top seed.  That's the way it was supposed to play out before Patricia put his stamp on tings.

He’s gone.. both him and Desai.

Yup, hope they have the balls to fire both, plus BJ and get new coordinators. No way Lurie fires Siri. So have to hope for new coordinators.

If either of those clowns are here next year it’ll be the same story. Need to cut ties with the pathetic scheme and start again. It really can’t get any worse

We canned our D coordinator and it’s now being run by a guy we picked up in late summer. Do we even have a defensive identity/strategy? Or are we just running random base plays he knows?

It looks like the latter.

Yeah I think Sirianni is here for at least another year. But one or both coordinators are gone. They have to be right?

I think it's pretty obvious at this point our problems on D are personnel related.  They can't cover anybody.  Any D-Coordinator would look bad with these guys.

Defensive coordinator at the very least needs to be replaced by an experienced vet. Offense they should bring in some more experience to assist, but the offense hasn't been a dumpster fire like the defense.

People are actually still giving a crap about what happens the rest of the year? Im amazed.

Honestly I dont think it matters who the DC is, the analytics are going to dictate to the DC how the D is called and that is soft bend but dont break.

Its a passive toothless Defense that is about as far away from the personality of the city as one cam get.

And philosophy.

Look I don’t think Patricia is doing a good job but that defense has next to no talent.

You can claim this is about a lack of talent, but I saw veteran NFL players forget how to tackle today. It doesn’t matter who would call plays for this defense, or even the offense for that matter, because these players have quit on their coaches.

They just ran at Morrow all day. You have a 210lb "linebacker" trying to tackle a 220lb running back.

The Eagles knew what they were going to do and couldn’t stop it. Run defense is a lot about heart. Simply beating the man in front of you to make a play. The Cardinals OLine controlled our fronts. They got manhandled by a three win team.

It's hard to cover people when you line up 7-10 yards away from them and give them a free release and route to run.

Facts. We may never see a dominating defense again with this analytics crap.

It doesn't matter......the eagles are one and done in the playoffs.

Sean Desai was 10-3 and beat several of the best offenses in the league.  Patricia is 1-2 against three of the worst.

The decision to change play callers, in hindsight, looks completely idiotic and should be a much larger talking point.

Neither option is a good one.

I was never a fan of the Desai hire from the start, but I can't say for certain he did a bad job.  I think he was about average, all things considered.  Patricia, meanwhile, has a much larger sample of below average defenses to his name.

I mean we are comparing rotten apples to rotten oranges. Neither is a good option.

So Howie sucks again?

The move to Patricia was just deflection by Siri

Defense under Desai was middling at best, but there were glimpses of adjustment, especially during the Rams game

This defense has hit rock bottom under Patricia, we didn't force AZ to punt, think about that....

A 3-12 team on the road and we couldn't muster the defense to force them to punt ONE time

I can't remember an Eagles defense that was completely abused as much as ours today

Patricia should be fired tomorrow on principal alone, he's more of a liability than an asset
