The interesting cap consequence here is that it may free up a June 1 spot for Bradberry. 
 

I think Cox is due count ~5m to this years cap and ~10m to next years if treated as a post June 1 but that amount would all be accelerated to this year if not so they would always use one of their spots for that. But if he’s retiring, can just file in the paperwork after June without using one of the spots. 

I don't mind him as a player but it's time to cut bait on Maddox, if you bring him back he's just going to eat your 1st team reps until he inevitably gets injured again and you have to find another guy to fit in and start anyway.

Just find someone reliable in draft or free agency.
