Eagles Receiver Criticizes Philly Media for Inaccurate Claims About Jalen Hurts

January 24, 2024
  • Philadelphia media targets Jalen Hurts, spreading baseless reports of negative impact on Eagles
  • Reports claim Hurts’ stoic demeanor is off-putting, causing tension in locker room
  • Former player misinterprets teammate’s statement, falsely accusing Hurts of being intimidating

The Philadelphia media has a notorious habit of turning on their own players when things aren’t going well for the Eagles. This time, the target is quarterback Jalen Hurts, and the reports and leaks about his supposed negative impact on the team are spreading, even if they are baseless.

According to these reports, Hurts’ stoic demeanor is being portrayed as off-putting in the locker room and causing tension among his teammates. Some even claim that his personality is intimidating to others. Former Eagles offensive lineman Barrett Brooks supported this claim, citing wide receiver Britain Covey as his source, as reported by The Inquirer’s Jeff McLane.

However, Britain Covey quickly came forward to defend Hurts against these criticisms. Covey, in a tweet, stated that Hurts is the best leader he has ever been around and clarified that he never said Hurts was unapproachable or that he was scared of him.

This incident appears to be a case of misinterpretation or intentional distortion by Brooks. In the original article, Covey specifically mentioned that Hurts can be a bit intimidating if you haven’t spent enough time around him. There is a significant difference between that statement and calling Hurts intimidating.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time Jalen Hurts has faced slander in the media. While it may be understandable for criticism to arise due to the Eagles’ disappointing playoff performance, fabricating statements from his teammates to attack his character is not the way to go about it.

So what Covey needs to clarify is why he feels Hurts is intimidating if you haven't spent enough time around him. That may help to clear this all up because using the word intimidating isn't always a major negative. It could be for any number of reasons.
