Darius Robinson is a gargantuan edge player for Missouri. 6'5'' 295lb, with 35'' arms, 10'' hands. Hes going to have scouts buzzing at combine weigh ins.

He isnt going to be your present day 4.3-4.4 running DE that is becoming so much more common. But his power is immense.

He is pretty versatile along the DL, but looks fairly limited as a rusher now using only power moves and not really showing an explosive first step.

However he looks pretty unstoppable when lined up at edge, out wide where he can convert speed to power. He just powers LTs right back with ease and runs right over RBs in pass protection.

Unless you are an old school 4-3 looking for a strong side DE who is more of an edge setter, I dont think he is a 3 down player. So hes looking like a late rounder to me. But there is something here to work with as a pass rusher. If you can develop his first step, and increase his arsenal of pass rush moves from some of the various down lineman positions he can play, youll suddenly have a versatile DL weapon who can move all over the place which size to play some DT, DE, and occasionally rush from the edge.

There are definitely tools there based on that video but his reaction time and lack of explosion is really noticeable on these clips. If he doesn't have many pass rush moves then he might struggle to make a real impact.

After 2 days of senior bowl practices PFF guys are saying they need to move him up in the mock draft simulator rankings. They had him going in round 4, and dont believe that will be possible anymore.

They are saying people are talking about him like maybe 2nd round is a possibility.

Round 4 was silly in the beginning

He is a 5th year senior and just broke out this year with 8.5 sacks. Not a guy who played a lot or flashed a lot through 4 years so I see how he was a relative unknown.

He does have a lot to work on. But his physical stature and power will allow him to be an immediate impact player, even if just a rotational player at first.

I do want a base end that sets the edge and plays the run well, a power player that would complement Reddick/Sweat/Nolan on early downs and could kick in on passing situations. Ideally, that would be Jared Verse in this draft. Now Robinson is an older prospect with one-year of production, and a pure power player. He may feast on the Andre Dillard’s of the league, but the better OTs and interior OL are ready for his game. I’d rather go a different direction in the top-50, and bring in a proven player like Denico Autry that can do the same things situationally (maybe the Bama kid later Egboie (sp?)).

I still agree with you. He blew up the senior bowl but hes a physical specimen who will dominate 1 on 1 drills.

As of right now hes got nothing but power rushes in his arsenal and NFL OTs will be ready for that. Hes going to need some more varied moves and counters.

I think he can be an impact player right away, but has a lot to learn to really reach his potential.

Based on tape, I hesitate to move him up to round 2 like everyone has him.

Maybe he goes higher than he should because theres just not a lot of great edge talent though.

And I do really like him. Id be really excited to have him. But hes like a 4th round talent.

I still take Braswell in round 2. Another mid round guy who is more power but has a great spin move is Elliss (yes another Elliss brother).

Gabriel Murphy looks pretty darn good in the shadows of Latu at UCLA. And Adisa Isaac is a solid mid round prospect too, a little in the shadow of Chop Robinson at PSU.

I guess I believe the top-50 hype because Keion White had a similar profile going into the last draft.  In any case, winning 1v1s in the vacuum of a line drill needs to be taken with a grain of salt - Robinson isn’t reading anything, the OLmen isn’t granted any leverage by the presence of his teammates or initiative due to knowing where the play is going. Basically, I’m fine with another team taking him early.

Yeah. Ill take him late 3rd, definitely in the 4th.

If some other team wants to spend a second, they can do it. There are other players to be had.

Didnt expect speed. But the jump numbers proved his power. Not that we needed any proof of that.

Day went as expected for him, Id say.
