Posted January 28, 20241 yr This is based on Florio meanderings and has no credibility. But it is offseason for us, and it's out there - so here it is. Flame on!! https://www.si.com/nfl/seahawks/news/seattle-seahawks-jalen-hurts-trade-rumors-philadelphia-eagles-brian-johnson-geno-smith Seahawks Could Get 'Fresh Start' With Jalen Hurts Trade, Says NFL Insider Seahawks Could Get 'Fresh Start' With Jalen Hurts Trade, Says NFL Insider Zach Dimmitt The Seattle Seahawks are beginning a new era after the firing of coach Pete Carroll, but one NFL insider thinks that this "fresh start" could come in more ways than one -- even if he has no evidence for its legitimacy as of yet. ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio speculated during his show Wednesday that the Philadelphia Eagles' recent firing of offensive coordinator Brian Johnson could lead to an "unhappy" Jalen Hurts and a potential trade eventually. There's been no indication that Hurts would suddenly want out of Philly after one forgettable season, but Florio thinks the dominoes could start to fall and that the Seahawks would be a team to watch if they do. "I'm not saying it will (happen), I'm not saying it should. I'm saying it could," Florio said of a potential trade. "He could say 'I want out.'" " ... You can throw the Seahawks in as well, depending who the new head coach is,” Florio said. "You got Geno Smith, where you have an opportunity to get out of the contract, and you could bring in Jalen Hurts if the new head coach decides ‘I think we can make things very special here with Jalen Hurts if he wants out of Philadelphia and needs a fresh start.’” Florio points out that Hurts and Johnson have been friends for a "very, very long time" and that the quarterback mentioned Johnson when talking about the Eagles "fixing everything," which led many to believe that Hurts unintentionally revealed that Johnson would be returning for another season after arriving in Philly as a quarterbacks coach That didn't happen, and now the Eagles are left searching for a new offensive coordinator that likely won't have the kind of friendship Hurts and Johnson had. Then again, Hurts would be the first to tell you that "business is business" or something along the philosophical lines he often likes to walk on when speaking to the media. Sure, the Eagles firing Johnson might not sit well with Hurts whether he'll admit it or not, but that's hardly a reason to suddenly feel "unhappy" with the organization enough to demand a trade after being officially crowed as the franchise quarterback in the offseason with a five-year, $255 million contract. Some Seahawks fans might like the idea of getting Hurts on a trade in Madden. But in real life, the haul it would take to get him along with having to take on his massive contract might not be worth it for a quarterback that could need to reprove himself next season after the inconsistencies this year. Before worrying about wild trade scenarios, the Seahawks will have to hire their new head coach. Seattle and the Washington Commanders are the only two teams left with head-coaching vacancies.
January 28, 20241 yr Way to add 2 + 2 Florio. I mean between him and that other idiot on PFT they just spout nonsense to get viewers. Look we can all speculate that Hurts is unhappy after the firing of Johnson. We can all talk about what teams need a QB. You can draw a very faint line from any QB needy team to Hurts. But he’s going nowhere unless things really change. It isn’t impossible but it’s very unlikely. And that goes for any player in the NFL to any team.
January 28, 20241 yr Hurts is going to thrive with Kellen Moore as OC.......and production and winning always make the best friends. Brian Johnson was a disaster and even Jalen Hurts knows it. Hurts is a professional and a leader.....and his season and his status were damaged by Johnson......
January 31, 20241 yr I'm going to go out on a limb here, so don't think me crazy for saying this, but... The Eagles could thrive with a Patrick Mahomes trade... there, I said it. Now, when does it happen?
