Just trade him

Tricky. We got such a good deal on Reddick but could be in trouble if we overpay and he declines rapidly.

I’m not trading him for less than a decent second though.

I was there, now I’m thinking it has to be a third and a conditional pick that could be a future mid rounder if he has like 10 sacks this year. After that, jist let him play out his contract and deal with his unhappiness.

Wondering what the sticking point is for the Eagles. I'm guessing they are holding out for a 2. I would do a 3 and a 5 for sure. Considering Burns netted Carolina a 2 and a 5 I just don't see anyone giving up a 2.

You may be right, although the Panthers got a high second for Burns, so maybe a mid/lower isn’t out of the question.

The Barkley signing suggests the Eagles are in win now mode. Reddick will make a big difference to our pass rush this year and a 3rd and a 5th just don’t move the needle for me.

I’d rather keep him and let him play hard in a contract year. If he becomes expendable (ie Eagles are struggling/we have enough with the other pass rushers) then I reckon we would get a 3rd for him at the deadline anyway.

It just really makes me sad the Eagles won’t do this. I really like Haasan a lot.
20M per won’t do it ? 1@20, 2/40?
6M raise? No team is going to give home 25M per. But the Eagles would be extremely shortsighted not to do the 20M per.

For how many years though? Giving 20 million a year for say 3 years to a soon to be 30 year old pass rusher wouldn't be wise to me. They also already have a lot of money tied up in Huff for multiple years and Sweat for one more year, and a second year first round pick who needs to play. I would trade him for a 3 and a 5 and be done with it.

With the moves we’ve made we have kind of backed ourselves in to a corner with this one. Signing Huff and then redoing Sweat’s deal kind of leaves us with no choice but to trade Reddick. Problem is I’m not sure the trade market is there and I’m not sure teams are willing to pay him what he thought he was going to get.

No we haven't, Howie isn't dumb enough to make deals that leave him in a position of absolutely having to trade someone, if Reddick stays he stays, if he half asses it or starts acting up in the locker room he'll be cut after June 1st

I'm sick of the outperformed their contract crap that WE put out there as well. Did he really OUTPERFORM his contract last year...NO.. he

played very well in 22 and that does not mean he should get a restructure or a bump for that. When he doesn'tperform does he give money back, approach Howie and say..ehh, I missed way to many tackles, I couldn't set my edge because I was going for the sack therefore I put other players out of position to make up for my mistake.... Nope.

I'm not suggesting a pay cut but I'm suggesting either a restructure that would give him 19 mil for the next 3 years... if that's not good enough then he's gotta go.

I didn't read all 6 pages of responses to this thread (so not sure if someone had already mentioned)  but why not keep his contract as is and then if he balls out next season, just franchise tag him the following season.  After that he'll be 32 and we can move on, if necessary.  If Nolan Smith develops into a player this next year, the point is moot.

Well they haven't released him so I'm guessing (hoping) that means he'll be playing for us this upcoming season IF we don't find a trade partner willing to offer adequate compensation.  Either play out the current contract and let him walk after the season (not sure about the franchise tag next year ... that would be pretty costly) getting a fairly decent comp pick the following year or find a team willing to deal for him now so as to add picks to 2024 and/or 2025 (we currently only have a 1, 2, 3, 5, and 2 7ths) - perhaps a mid round pick in 2024 and a conditional pick in 2025.

I could see him holding out until a new contract, trade, or release. He asked for a new contract last year and they didn't do it. Doubt they can get away with it a second time

Anytime a player says they outperformed their contract (that they signed and agreed to) I think of this clip from Deeds.

Reddick was 15th in the league in sacks last year and has the 8th biggest cap hit for an edge rusher this year, his tackle numbers for last year were also absolutely embarrassing for a guy asking to be paid more than the 21.8million he'll be paid this year.

Underpaid my lily white ass.

He was also injured

Never seen someone with so little leverage ask for so much. He's declining. Probably not gonna get better in his 30's. Eagles gave him a huge raise from his last Panthers contract when he signed. And already started beetching after only one year. Very annoying. He needs to hush it and his earn his money this year.

He played a higher percentage of snaps last year than he did the year before. His tackle numbers are flat out abysmal, he had 38 combined tackles all year, as a comparison to guys that are paid more than him this year, Maxx Crosby had 90, Montez Sweat had 57, Josh Allen had 66, Landry had 69 (nice). He's a one trick pony, it's a good trick and he's good at it, but he's not worth more than he's being paid this year.

He was playing injured with a club for many weeks. Once that club was gone he was a force the 2nd half of the season.

He had more sacks and tackles for loss weeks 1-8 than he did from 9-17.

I believe the club came off around week 4. Because I remember saying myself where the hell was Reddick the first few weeks. But he was very productive for the rest of the season until the entire team fell off a cliff in the last few weeks of the season.

I'm not saying he deserves to be paid more. He is paid well for his production. I don't think the team should dump him though and trade him. That kind of pass rushing production doesn't grow on trees. The Eagles haven't had a lot of success drafting edge rushers in the last 10 years.

Howie should take what is being offered, whether a 3 or 4, and be done with it

So Cards and Falcons are willing to give him the money he wants but won't give Howie the trade compensation he wants?
