Boo!!!!!!!

F this two year crap. If you want him, you pay now!

I'm guessing maybe because the Jets picked up his salary? I don’t know if true .

Honestly it’s a terrible deal for us but one that was always likely this year given how everything played out.

i was expecting a 3rd and 5th maybe but with that contract and the third potentially a second isn't terrible. they were never going to pay him. after last year he was not worth that money anyway. it couldve been a lot worse lol. atleast they sent him to a trash organization. so that pick will be early round either way

After last year?!!!…he was grossly misused…he deserved to stay and get one with his home team…shoulda paid him…i dont wanna see another FA added after this…no Fin loyalty

No, that dumbsheet will trade that pick away in order to overpay an over-the-hill FA vet.

Look at it this way… we could have left him play this year disgruntled  tying up cap space hoping he had a decent year. So we could let him go in free agency in 2025 hoping he signs a contract worthy of netting us a 2026 comp pick (also hindering us from signing players to ensure a comp pick)

or like this trade we save a fair amount of money this year which can be used for more players or to extend some contracts. We lock in getting a minimum 3rd rounder in 2026 and we aren’t handicapped in 2025 free agency because we want to insure getting a comp pick for him.

That defense is legit. Question will always be health for them on that sheet field

The Jets are picking up most of his money this year.

There has to be more than just the $1M roster bonus that will impact our 2024 cap.  Guessing there will be some dead money there too.  If not, then just WOW!  :o

Might be an aspect of howies thinking that Rodgers will be done after next season and if Reddick hits those #’s could be a very early 2026 2nd round pick coming to us.

but that offense isn't. an over the hill qb recovering from a torn acl? the jets have been a worthless team since the before the butt fumble.

screw loyalty. we still dont know what did happen in the locker room last year. maybe he was part of the that drama. we dunno. either way he wasnt like myles garrett or anything of thel ike. the only loyalty that matters is the loyalty to the team and not the name on the back of the jersey.

Sooooo….

the Jets aren’t even going to extend him either?

Would he hold out on the Jets?

so he goes from disgruntled on the Eagles to disgruntled on the Jets?

Still don’t understand letting him go. We went for younger and less proven production. Reddick is still in his prime.

The Jets are picking up his Salary for 2024 -1Mil. While his production will be hard to replace..It was not such a dumb move. ..If you consider it was either him..or Sweat. Sweat is 2 years younger. Can't keep everyone.

Also we have Fangio where DE can be called back into coverage.. and he was not IT. He was a striclty rush the passer type DE. Just was not the right fit.

Another aspect of the trade that isn't being discussed much is we didn't trade him to a division rival nor did he leave in free agency to a division rival. He's on the Jets, a team we rarely play and I expect they'll extend him for at least a couple more years. I think all 3 rivals in our division were interested in Reddick, so it's nice to know he didn't land on one.

I was there, now I’m thinking it has to be a third and a conditional pick that could be a future mid rounder if he has like 10 sacks this year. After that, jist let him play out his contract and deal with his unhappiness.

Exceeds my expectations so I’m happy.

I agree

2026??? Howie WTF

Too much overthinking. It's over, move on. At least we received decent compensation.

I find the conditional aspects interesting, along with no mention presently as to whether a tentative contract extension is in the works.

Perhaps, if negotiations drag out through mid-season, the Jets will cut back his play time...thus degraging the compensation in 2026.

Oops, am I also overthinking?

In any event, this trade will take several years before we will know if this was a win, lose or win/win outcome.

If Arod gets injured early and is out for a significant amount of time then yes I expect the Eagles to get a 3rd round pick in 2026

Don’t feel this makes the team better in the short term or the long run, but for whatever reason Howie felt that Reddick was a declining player and wasn’t worth the money. The Eagles seemed to choose between Sweat and Reddick and it came down to money. One guy wanted more and the other guy took less.

I like Reddick but his salary demands were ridiculous, especially at his age, let him play that game with the Jets now. I’m happy with the pick and the money. The Eagles did the right thing, you give in to one player’s salary demands you’ll have bunch more following.
