I don't really know much about him except the Jets 2023 team was built pretty well and had high hopes until Rodgers went down

Barkley next maybe Simmons

Let’s hope so! Huff is a good start but a lot more work is needed!

I'll be honest, before this free agency period I never really heard of Huff...certainly isn't a household name.  Hope Howie knows what he's doing here with this contract.

Huff is a good edge rusher. One of the top ones in FA.

Is there a trade in place now for reddick?

Apparently.  I'm just saying that if you asked me in December/January who Bryce Huff played for, I would not have known that answer.  And being one of the top FAs in any given year doesn't necessarily mean that player is a top player at his position.  It's more like: See that room full of pigs, pick the prettiest one.

Sometimes there are really good players available, but most times FAs get wildly overpaid in comparison to their performance.

That said, here's to hoping Huff is "worth it"!!!

Huff is a pass rusher first, second and last.  He isn’t going to be setting many edges against the run, but I doubt that will be expected of him.

Honestly this is a bit of a gamble. Now it could be a great deal and he might be getting lots of sacks.

Not saying I don't like him. But let's hope last year was a glimpse of what is to come, not an outlier.

This is a strong, building-block type move.

He emerged as one of the top young EDGE guys in the league last year and is just 25 (turns 26 next month) and is just entering the prime of his career.
Howie continues to fortify the trenches.

Thinking the same thing.  If no trade, would they cut him?

No

And whilst I agree that’s not his game and so it shouldn’t be expected of him that’s a real issue! Because we are bad in the secondary so teams will be able to run wild on us.

Fangio’s defenses are a 2 high shell and very susceptible to the run anyway.  Next season’s defensive scheme will really depend on safety and linebacker play in the 4-3 under 2 high shell.  A pure pass rusher makes sense in a fangio scheme, but until we address linebacker, safety, and corner, his scheme will be as futile as the train wreck last year.  Without the horses, it won’t work.  All that being said, I like the Huff signing a lot.  Huff is ascending and he is young.  But there are obvious holes on defense.  This move gives the flexibility to possibly trade Reddick for draft capital IMO.

I like it. Especially after BG signed one more year. I don't like Huff on an island, but he should fit nicely as a role player in a Vic Fangio scheme. I wonder if Reddick and Sweat are on their way out?

Like the move. Still need a linebacker and a safety.

Need to keep reddick…go get simmons and queen

Pass Rush specilalist. Let's get a LB and Safety.

And that’s exactly what I’m worried about. With the players we currently have (and yes there’s still plenty of FAs and the draft to come) this scheme is going to get exposed. And we all know Howie isn’t going to do much at LB.

I like the move. Leaves it open now to trade Reddick or Sweat if they want but otherwise we are now set at DE.

Main focus now has to be LB. Safety also but I feel we can wait with the safety market and still get a really good player. Need to move quickly at LB.

Great signing. This very well could be the Graham replacement in 2025.
