March 13, 20241 yr Just now, Procus said: He's a hybrid and in there for coverage abilities. So a corner playing safety? You know, there's already a position for that. CB. Said it a billion times, he's one of the best slot CBs in the league if you let him play it, but safeties actually have to tackle. Corners don't.

He doesn't shy away from tackles and maybe goes for the big hit a little too often. If he get's his missed tackle percentage below 10%, that will be a big improvement for him. But he also has playmaking ability that compensates for the missed tackles. I would rather see a player make a mistake by being aggressive (going for the hit) than by just being passive and not trying. It is entirely possible he can improve as a tackler still.
March 13, 20241 yr Clearer heads prevailed Reminds me a bit of trotter, Andy and Trot had it out, trotter left couple years later they both said sorry then went to the superbowl together. Though CJGJ isnt the same calibre player as trotter hopefully him coming back after a spat with the FO will end with a trip to the super bowl, except a win.💪

March 13, 20241 yr This guy is always around the ball and makes plays. We need a few more guys like him. Should have never left.

March 13, 20241 yr So he hates the fans, was pissed at Howie last year, got hurt and missed most of the season, and coming back to Philly. An interesting offseason.
March 13, 20241 yr Hmm I think it’s a good signing (may be a little too much) but there’s still a lot more to be done in the secondary. I think he’s more likely to play slot CB given we’ve cut Maddox.

That playoff game when we cooked the Giants, he was at slot. And he was insane that game. Maddox had always played good ball at slot for us, but he made Maddox look like a JAG in comparison and reminded me of Patrick Robinson during the SB year. And I think the reason why is simple: Playing coverage where you start from the same level as a receiver is fundamentally different from playing coverage from the safety position where you're often coming down, or you're in zone, or you have to come towards the player to make the play (moving downhill). I think from the S position we've had several safeties even recently that do those things as well as play the fundamental position better, including Malcolm Jenkins, McLeod, etc. But in terms of playing from even, like a corner, Gardner-Johnson is exceptional.

March 13, 20241 yr I'm happy with CJGJ coming back. Would have preferred McKinney (since they were trying for him), but I wanted us to re-sign CJGJ last year. I'd love to get Simmons as well, but that's highly doubtful.
March 13, 20241 yr Love his performance on the filed. Is it too early yet to ask him to Shut up off the field comments ??? Lol.
March 13, 20241 yr All we ask is that CJGJ contribute to many Eagles SB wins. That's not too much to ask, right?
March 13, 20241 yr sooo....NOW we like him? 🙄 Also, Joe Shades 73 deserves an apology from several...nailed it!
March 13, 20241 yr How does anyone who watched our putrid trainwreck of a secondary last year complain about bringing CJGJ back? He's a versatile defender who can play nickel or safety - two positions where we desperately need help. Howie righting what was clearly a mistake last offseason.
