March 15, 20241 yr Gave up way too much for a guy that hopefully won't play. He was very very average with the Steelers. Don't understand this one. He is just not very good.

March 15, 20241 yr It seemed like Howie had a close eye on him coming out of college so he finally got his guy. Let’s see what the coaching staff can do with him.

Yes - former first round pick and he’s got two cheap hears left to prove himself and then we can keep him as a back-up or trade him in an AJ Feely type deal for a draft pick.
March 15, 20241 yr Wow, that's a shocker. Guess our backup QB situation is solved. Honestly, I like it. He'll be a backup.. he's the right stuff for a backup.

March 15, 20241 yr Young backup with starting experience and a winning record who grew up an Eagles fan. Not an earth shattering deal, but the Eagles have their backup now if Hurts goes down.
March 15, 20241 yr Basically Pickett and a 4th Rounder for the Eagles 3rd Rounder and two 7th Rounders in 2025.
March 15, 20241 yr I'm hoping the Eagles here will try to coach him up and get someone to trade a high pick for him.

For the QB with the worst ever attempts to touchdown ratio for QB's over 500 pass attempts since records began? This is a crap trade, for a bad QB, who isn't going to play enough to even be a reclamation project. I would genuinely rather they'd traded for Zach '80's lesbian tennis player' Wilson than this tiny handed clown.

I'm assuming this is a financial decision on resources to invest in the backup QB position. We are currently in the "the backup QB isn't a qualified starting QB and therefore the signing is horrible" phase of Eagles fan grief processing. They are both pretty horrible but I think Pickett is better than Wilson. If nothing else, based on attitude.

They basically just swapped a late third for an early fourth to get a backup QB... how is that a "crap trade?"

March 15, 20241 yr Not a terrible trade. Drop a round essentially for a back-up QB with starting experience. I'm more surprised that the Steelers moved off their 1st round pick and are buying in to Russ. Steelers are one of the few teams in the NFL that rarely gives up on their draft picks.
