Utebird
https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/eagles/unveiling-complete-all-time-eagles-team This was voted on by 4 dudes in the philly media i think they got some wrong mostly right heres mine. QB Cunningham. They picked Mcnabb and he owns virtually every eagles passing record but i think randall was more talented, randall never had the benefit of an o-line or a RB or an offensive game plan. Mcnabb did. RB Steve VanBuren. The dude retired the leagues all time leading rusher and scorer, that they put mccoy over him is ludicrous. RB Brian Westbrook- people may question this one but westy is 3rd in all time eagles scoring, mccoy is 9th. Westbrook has less fumbles than mccoy in more games and a ton less than van buren. Westbrook also held team receptions record for eagles with 90 broken by ertz is the eagles all time leader in scrimmage yards and actually won playoff games unlike mccoy. WR. Mike Quick. Despite only playing 18 games in his last 3 seasons due to injury quick is 7th all time in eagles tds and 3rd in rec yards. Without injuries is most likely HOF. WR. Tommy Mcdonald. This was tough between Carmichael who is the eagles leader in pretty much every receiving category but tommy isnt far behind and was also won a championship and his career 19 ypc ave is impressive not to mention he has about 10 less tds than carmichael in almost 100 less games. TE Keith Jackson. Keith Jackson has 2 all pros as an eagle to Ertz none so... OT Jason Peters no explanation. OT Tra Thomas named a member of eagles 75th team, Lane Johnson may surpass him one day but not yet. OG Brandon Brookes. OG Shawn Andrews. This may be a head scratcher for some but for a few years before the depression he was the most dominant guard in the league OC Jason Kelce- his post super bowl speech alone should put him on the list, without the speech hes still the only center on the list to consider. DE Reggie White. Some consider him to be the greatest DL of all time so yeah. DE Clyde Simmons.- i thought for a second what about Trent Cole then i remembered Cole never had a 20 sack or 100 tackle season. DT. Jerome Brown. I think sometimes Jerome gets the Kurt Cobain treatment where hes viewed better than he was after he tragically died but Jerome was really that good, a HOF talent. DT Fletcher Cox- If some guy named Aaron Donald didnt exist Cox would be the best DT in football. Shout out to Andy Harmon! LB Chuck Bednarik. I tried to justify putting Trotter somewhere but couldnt, Bednarik is a legend and HOF LB Seth Joyner, that joyner never gets a sniff at HOF is odd he was a dominant LB who could do it all and did. LB Maxie Baughn. The guys picked William Thomas and his one pro bowl over Baughn and his 5 with the eagles not sure why. I loved willie T but come on. CB Eric Allen. Tied for franchise Int, leads eagles in Int return tds and Int return yardage. Also never gets any HOF love😞 CB Troy Vincent. I thought about Herm Edwards here, while edwards had more ints, 33 to 28 Vincent was a 4 time pro bowl 1 time all pro to Edwards none of each. S Brian Dawkins. HOF tied for franxhise INT only player in NFL history with 25+ sacks ints and FF. S Wes Hopkins. The guys picked Bradley for his amount of Ints but i think Wes was better. Bradley had 20 INTs in two seasons and a total of 14 in the other 5 in a career he only played 7 seasons. He was really good for 2 seasons and really average for 5 more. Wes had 5 seasons of at least 5 ints and had a total of 12 sacks to bradleys 0 and Wes was a far better tackler/ hitter. They both had 1 all pro bradley had 3 pro bowls to 1 for Wes. Wes was also never the same player after tearing his knee early in his career but still solid. K David Akers im not sure who else would get votes. P Donnie Jones. Again not sure who else to vote for. KR/PR Timmy Brown. They picked Brian Mitchell which i cant really argue with except that Brown did it longer with the eagles where as Mitchell was only here 3 years. DeathByEagle
QB: The problem is we do not have a good history with QBs staying here. Norm Van Brocklin would be my choice with Wentz behind him. Never was a NcNabb fan. HB1: Steve Van Buren HB2: Shady McCoy WR: Harold Carmichael WR: TO(Dude is prob the best WR we ever had on this team. Just didnt last long) WR: Chris Carter(Looking at his full career. He was a beast. A shame it took Buddy cutting him to get him back on track) TE: Zach Ertz OTs: Jason Peters and Jon Runyan(Jon and Lane are both on my list. I just loved how nasty Jon was so gets the slight edge for me) OGs: Kilroy and Brooks( Agree with the site. Kilroy was nasty) Center: Kelce(Don't have a ton of options with this one) DEs: Reggie White and Trent Cole DTs: Jerome Brown and Cox(Simon is right there on the list with Cox for me) OLBs: Willy T and Seth(Don;t have a lot of great LBs in our franchise) MLB: Im going with the Axe Man. Loved Chuck but IDK, Trott just always pops up in my head CBs: Troy Vincent, Asante Samuels, Bobby Taylor(Bobby was the perfect nickel. Due was great at covering any position. TE, WR, HB) FS: Dawk, there is zero question on that SS: Im a Wes Hopkins guy as well. (We have had some good ones in Hopkins, Bradley, Logan) K: Akers P: Donny Jones
CHIP72
The Dick Vermeil era Eagles had some very good offensive linemen, in particular Jerry Sizemore, Stan Walters, and Guy Morriss.
CHIP72
Pro Football Hall of Famer (and Eagles Hall of Famer) Bob Brown played offensive tackle for the Eagles for five years (1964 to 1968) and was 1st or 2nd team All-Pro in the 14 to 16 team NFL in every one of those seasons before he was traded to the Rams. toolg
They picked McCoy over Van Buren at RB, and I don't blame them based on the scheme. They envision a modern, single-back offense. Where Van Buren is old-school, he looks like a battering ram in old films. If you are picking 2 RBs, Van Buren and McCoy are your guys. (IMO they should've used 21 personnel. Then I'd replace Quick at WR with Van Buren at HB/FB.) I assume Lane Johnson is RT. Strictly speaking about OTs, I like Peters and Tra Thomas better, but both played LT. (And they said OT, not LT and RT.). Bob Brown, Sisemore, and Runyan would be LJs competition at RT. It's close. Lane Johnson wins by recency bias. Overall, not a whole lot of complaints about NBCs team.
Saltpeter
Their list is mostly fine. I don't know a bunch of players on the pre-90s teams, so maybe they're missing someone from there *shrugs*. Westbrook was better than McCoy in both their respective primes. I'd still go Van Buren out of respect. QB, I don't know what to do. Eagles have had a lot of scattered elite QB seasons (Wentz '17, Foles '13, Vick '10, McNabb '04, Cunningham '90, Van Brocklin '60), but never had that sustained run of greatness. I guess McNabb was the closest thing, so he wins by default. But sub him out for Foles in the playoffs, please.
