April 4, 20241 yr This kid went from obscurity in Australia to a $22 million dollar a year tackle in the NFL. And he's earned every penny. Best LT we've had since Peters at his apex.
April 4, 20241 yr Awesome. You know Howie will always retain O linemen. I knew he and Dickerson would be going nowhere, they will be lifers.

Anyway makes sense to sign him up for longer because he’s a vital part of this OL at a key position. Does this free up some cap for this year I wonder? Not that we need to but that tends to be the Howie was right?

April 5, 20241 yr I like locking down the stalwarts on that line with Kelce now gone. Need as much continuity there as possible.
April 5, 20241 yr Thingamabob gets another bag!!! The left side is locked down for a while. That's good.
April 5, 20241 yr Stoutland University product, we all know how those guys pan out. Wonderful news, I'm delighted for the team and the big man himself
April 5, 20241 yr I somehow forgot he's been with us for some years now. I'm always thinking he's younger lol Being able to learn from Kelce, Lane, and Peters while having Stout as the coach set him up for success pretty perfectly
April 6, 20241 yr Howie doing some strategic locking up of his own players. Fan favorite guy everyone can root for.
April 8, 20241 yr Such a stupid decision by Mailata and his agent. Forget the "$22M APY" figure because APY is a stupid way to judge at NFL contracts. The only figure that matters is the guaranteed money. Under the old deal was due $31M through 2025 (the end of his current contract), unless the team was going to cut him (LOL). His extension includes $48M guaranteed - but in reality he's only getting $17M in "new money". For that, he gave up a crack at free agency - or holding off on the extension he was certain to be approached about next year - with a much bigger guaranteed $ figure. Instead locked himself in through 2028 at 2024 prices with a minimal amount of new $. By 2028 he likely won't even be one of the 10 highest paid OTs. Stupid, stupid, stupid......but great for the team.
April 8, 20241 yr I have to admit, when we drafted him, I was skeptical as to whether or not he could develop into a starting LT. Maybe he could learn and develop into a backup, but starting LT? I had a hard time seeing it. I wasn't against the gamble, it was very well worth taking the chance and I was glad to see it happen. Seeing him go from what he was on day 1 to what he is today is awesome. He and his family should be extremely proud of what he's accomplished.
April 8, 20241 yr Great news extending him. I will say last year he did not play as well as I had hoped or thought he would. But no one did really so not sure what to make of it, we'll see how it plays out this year.
