April 12, 20241 yr I'll always remember several of his big moments. The huge run against arch rival #1 UCLA in the 4th quarter in 1967 (take a look at that one if you've never seen it). I was not old enough to really take it in but I remember how HUGE of a fuss all the adults in the room made about it. Massive national game with the top player going 60+ yards in the 4th quarter to win and then USC going on to the Rose Bowl where USC won and finished #1 and then OJ finishing 2nd in the heisman trophy (winning it the following year). One of the greatest runs/plays in college football history given the context. He became a full on national hero (for a while) on that day. The day he broke 2000 yards in a 14 game season against the Jets with another 200 yard effort in a cold Shea Stadium. The 273 yards and NFL record on Thanksgiving Day against the Lions. The day we all watched that white bronco on the highway in LA followed by all the police cars right in the middle of the NBA finals. ...and the largest moment of all when I was in a lobby in a Verizon building in Arlington, VA with a large group of people (say appox 75) watching the tvs hung around when he was pronounced not guilty. The reaction in the crowd was stunning. A Munson/Zuker moment if I ever saw one. What a crazy story.

The verdict was stunning and I remember where I was at the time as well as watching the White Ford Bronco during Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Rockets vs. Knicks. Olajuwon vs. Ewing. Rockets win the series and Olajuwon gets his revenge. I guess that was our JFK assassination moment.
