June 11, 20205 yr Author We use to grill turkey burgers all the time in CO. I can't remember anything special besides salt and pepper. But we did put fresh sprouts on top of it. Refreshing!

Refreshing! That is how I cook a regular burger. I wasn’t sure if turkey meat was too bland to do the same thing. So I started looking up recipes and they all seemed to have more filler than turkey. So you’d say that I’m safe with just S&P like a normal burger?

We had it down to a science and it was really juicy. But I have the memory of a gold fish thanks to countless concussions and over 20 years of weed. She's on a zoom meeting with her boss right now Edit: Ok, so we both don't remember. She use to chop up fresh garlic and put other spices in the ground turkey (like cumin). I think we put some Worcestershire sauce in, but she doesn't think so. We would top it with a fig jam and fresh sprouts.

June 11, 20205 yr I think we used to put egg, Worcestershire sauce, dijon, salt, pepper, minced garlic and cumin. Turkey burgers are bland.. I would never do that to a regular burger, but turkey burgers need fat and seasoning in them so they aren't dry and tasteless. We would top with a specialty cheese and spread fig jam on the bun and add sprouts.
June 11, 20205 yr You could also use coconut aminos.. will give it an Asian sort of flavor profile. It's slightly sweet and a better alternative when you can't have soy products.

I’ll probably make something similar to what you did here. I don’t want to completely stress out about one damn burger. If she doesn’t like it I guess that I’ll just have to tell her that’s what she gets for not eating meat.
June 11, 20205 yr We make turkey burgers from time to time. Used to use this stuff in a squeeze bottle that you'd mix with the meat kind of like a thick barbecue sauce. That stuff was good. Or you could just mix in some bbq sauce and maybe an egg to help hold it together, season with a bit of S/P/G/O and good-to-go. As Binky said, turkey burgers aren't bad as long as you aren't expecting them to taste like a beef burger and add a little fat to keep them from drying out. Which is why I like to mix in some kind of sauce to add moisture since you can't leave it a little but below well done like you can a beef burger.

That's what we used to add as well to give it a little sweetness. We would get a sweet/spicy one.

June 11, 20205 yr An old Vietnam guy I knew would make burgers and put chicken legs on the top shelf so the fat would drip into them. It was amazing. You could try that.

I mentioned to her, "how about a turkey or chicken hot dog?” Got a big fat NO on that suggestion.

June 11, 20205 yr 22 minutes ago, BFit said: id love to hear how that timing works, especially on a good medium burger Cook it over indirect heat until it is a little less done than your target medium, then move it over to direct high heat and give it a quick sear on both sides. Perfect medium burger with all of the salmonella drippings killed off. I wouldn't personally do this but I also think it can be done safely.

The morning of, JO into the meat... so you get a nice mixture of sweet and salty.
