He will lead us to a championship & be the defensive player of the year!

This is exactly the kind of unrealistic expectation we don’t want for him!

As long as he wins defensive rookie of the year and Super Bowl MVP, then I think we can regard it as a good pick in the 5th.

I think Dean was in the right spot more often than not, he just didn't have the size or strength to dislodge the ball on players with NFL size like he did in college. I think after a couple more off-seasons of hitting the weight room he should have the necessary strength and will be much better in those situations.

Just got to hope he can stay healthy and start to gain some experience. I think there is a solid player in there still so if he can stay healthy we could benefit from that.

Will he wear #54?

I think it’s available. Shaun Bradley had it but he’s gone.

It is available. Hope he takes it. I miss the days where LBs pretty much all wore 50s and WRs 80s.

How can he possibly wear any other number? Even if they had retired it for Trot, they would have to bring it back.

At least you didn’t give me his PFF grades and metrics while telling me you don’t pay for that trash. 😂

This baby that's been hanging in the closet forever just got a lot more relevant:

Can't wait to see him play!

Hopefully he can get some meaningful snaps early and maybe work his way into a starter later in the season?

They really don't like giving rookies many snaps unless necessary from injury. But they're so thin at LB who knows. Siri says he values competition, so the best players should play regardless of rookie or draft status.

Both Siri and Howie admitted recently that they should have allowed their younger players to play more last year, so who knows … maybe we’ll see a change in philosophy there.

There are a lot of things on the Eagles to be excited about. Getting these large leads in the 4th quarter is really giving the young guys some opportunities. Yesterday, Trotter Jr. only played 5 snaps (4 in coverage) on defense, but even though it was technically "garbage time," the rams still had their starters in against our mostly backup defense. He made the most of those snaps and played really well.

Trotter has 28 total defensive snaps on the season and a 90.6 PFF grade. Small sample, obviously, but worth noting.

I love that the younger players that normally might not see the field are getting extremely valuable live reps (in games that count ... not preseason games or TC scrimmages).  That will be super beneficial in having them better prepared if they are called upon for larger roles (e.g. should a player ahead of them on the DC suffer an injury, etc).
