I was just wondering the same thing.  Is it based on some other history from Tolkien’s books or is this something they just made up?  I’m not optimistic.

Had enough Gollum. Pass.

I couldn't make it through the third Hobbit movie.  Hard pass

It's based on a pretty interesting snippet from the LoTR books.  Bilbo was a bit of a liar about the whole ring encounter but after a few decades of on and off conversations, Gandalf gets to suspecting that it's the One Ring and finally learns about Gollum. Wanting more information, he sends Aragorn to track Gollum down. There's alreadt a fan pic about this on youtube I saw it last night and it was good.

It made a nice 40 min short film, but if you include parts with Bilbo and Sauron I guess you could get it to 90 min. I could have hope for this movie just because its Serkis instead of Jackson directing. Hopefully he can keep it tight and not bloat it.

I wonder if they try to use Ian McKellen a de-aged Viggo Mortensen or if they cast new people
