He's had a few really bad picks (in rd 1) ... Watkins, Dillard, Marcus Smith ... but I do think Reagor is the worst of them all.  It was a no brainer to take Jefferson there (comment based on talent alone ... not taking into account the recent contract).

and you have to look at the big picture...is AJ even here if Howie picked Jefferson? most likely no...or Devonta for that matter...and then who knows what Howie would have done at #6 when he picked Smith, and with that 1st that he used to get AJ.

Indeed.  The butterfly effect would be tremendous to change that.

There are a lot of things that we just don't know. To start, he was drafted in 2020 and this team was a complete mess that season. Had we drafted him, would we have even tried him on the outside or would he have just been Agholor's replacement at slot? If he ended his rookie season with real modest numbers for us would people think of highly of him around the league? Face it, Cousins may not be a top 3 QB or known as a "winner," but he does feed the ball to his favorite WR all game long. I think it would be wise for any WR  entering a contract year or playing on a prove it deal to want to play on a team with Cousins throwing the ball.

For all we know the Eagles could have drafted Metcalf and Jefferson and not even put them in a situation to really succeed. We know the guys we ended up picking didn't work out, but never underestimate the importance of fit for a player and how early success can really feed a young player's confidence while early struggles can lead to media noise that some players like Reagor just couldn't handle.

There was one other argument against Jefferson at the time of the draft that people have forgotten. There were some people that contended his success was a product of the attention teams were giving to Chase on the outside. It was a reasonable theory at the time, but Jefferson's career in Minnesota has since busted that myth as it did the myth that he was solely a slot WR. I just don't think he would have had the same kind of impact on the 2020 Eagles had we drafted him.
