We can have all the Howie genius, draft great people, pick up free agents but it all hinges on Hurts. And from what I’m reading he is not doing to well. Still holding the ball too long. Oh yes, short passes are not too bad. I know it’s early but I have concerns that Hurts has already shown all he has, and we could be in for a long season. Hope I’m wrong

Normally it gets hotter in the summer. Today was really hot. Based on yesterday and today, I'm concerned it might get really hot again. We could be in for a long, hot summer. I hope I'm wrong.

You're probably going to get a ton of crap for your post, but it is a legitimate concern.  This team is far too talented to be held down my below-average quarterback play.   I hope the coaches can figure out how to cater to his strengths, assuming he has any glaring ones remaining.  I really hope this isn't Wentz all over again.

It seems only a select few are allowed to post without any negative or puerile put downs. And all of you who like to put people down, I hope you can still laugh in the middle of the season or have thought up of excuses.  How did the end of the season go last year with your QB

You think it's rough being a pessimist around here, try being an optimist and say something positive about an unpopular player. I'll get you started --- what are your thoughts on Kenneth Gainwell as Barkley's primary backup?

Kenneth will be just fine backing up Shipley.

Well, if gainwell will be the backup, although I hope Shipley develops quickly, we should see either one after a game or 2 when Barkley gets hurt. But I hope he doesn’t and runs for 2000 yds…..and personally dismantles the cowgirls both times.  But dak is having his greatest off season ever….why can’t the media stop talking about the irrelevant cowgirls

I have no idea where this idea came from that Barkley is constantly hurt. He had the one major injury, which could happen to any player, which cost him 14 games in 2020. Take away that one injury year and he’s played 74 out of 85 games (including playoffs) in his other seasons. The past two seasons he’s played 32 out of 36 games.

It's a whole new offense. It'll take time to settle into it.

Optimism is just completely against your nature isn't it. You're just completely incapable.

1st time in a forums (sports or otherwise) ? a safety foam pad is typically provided for the soft at heart (preseason only)

pm prophet215 for availability

pm baltimore bob for sizing

Ah yea the tweets yesterday saying he was sacked for holding the ball too long

Perhaps you haven't noticed how many games he plays ineffectively due to injuries showing him down then.

Excellent post

It´s June and they are installing a new offense. This is where they new try things. They won´t all work. ANd don´t underestimate the absence of Kelce at center, that will take some adjustments. Relax, enjoy the summer. Have a glass of something cold and a cheeky little toke by the pool or at the beach. It will be fine.

(Edited to add...)

There´s plenty of time to be depressed come September!

Kellen Moore will be a total failure in Philly.

Because his offense and QB scheme is too complex.

And because our QBs are not smart enough.

Hear me now. Believe me later.

We need to dumb this stuff down.

I am hearing and seeing passive aggressive "still learning another new offense" behaviour.

Hurts knows how this works, he´s had to learn a new offense nearly every single year he has played football, at every level. He´ll be fine, I trust him.

Can we have one year without a QB controversy? I even forget who the backup is this year. I miss Kevin Kolb, one of the most popular Eagles of all time until he took the field for more than a couple of games.

it was very dumbed down last year for Hurts. So much that it couldnt work in the NFL. Now theyll run a pro offense and if Hurts cant handle it, itll be time to move on.

thought we embraced the highly intelligent QB threat last year.

For all the heat Siri took for his offense last year (which I still agree was deserved), I do have another line of thinking where I wonder if he made his offense what it was because he felt that's all Hurts could handle mentally.

It'll be interesting to see how Hurts ultimately handles the new offense.

Sorry,

I just assumed that Barkley was hurt alot because I didn't hear about big numbers from him, but now I realize he was playing behind the Giants offensive line.......

That's what I believe happened.

He excelled in 2022 and was the MVP runner up under Steichen. He handled that mentally.

We complained all season about the coaching issues on offense. Even the WRs are commenting on the difference with the new coordinator.
