Remember when Reid went like 4-1 with AJ Feely and Detmer? Foles cam in and took over for Vick. Heck Vick came in and took over for Kolb. The Eagles have a lot of instances of backups coming in to win games even in long stretches. I know and i agree yes a back up should be able to handle a game or 2 but some back ups just plain old suck. They have also made adjustments for their back ups when they have a full week to prepare. Not in the middle of a game with a game plan already in place for Jalen. You dont have time in the middle of a game to just scrap the whole game plan and do something different for a QB that is no where close to the same skill set as hurts. Im just speaking on this game specifically.

Would you admit that he’s benefited from having a GM that brought in a core of players on defense that are instilled with a work ethic that was highlighted in the video link you shared? Every GM, or similar position, across all sports tries to build the best roster possible to win a championship. Should Sirianni tell Roseman to purposely not try to build a SB caliber roster just to prove he's a good HC? Only in Philly is it held against the HC and QB that the GM is good at his job.
December 23, 2024Dec 23 I called for firing him in the past. He got his act together and improved. I do not fault him (solely) for yesterday's loss. There were a lot of factors. It's always hard when the starting QB gets hurt in the game, you have to adjust quickly. Fangio's defense collapsed despite 5 turnovers, they gave up a lot of points especially seemingly easy drives at the end. The backup QB had them with a lead and the defense let them march down the field and score. It was a weird game. CJGJ ejection, bad calls by the refs and then 3 DPI by Lattimore on Brown, crazy turnovers, injuries, players fighting. This was Washington's Super Bowl. A playoff rematch we will beat them. This isn't like last year. They have been winning enough games convincingly and the defense has been solid apart from yesterday. It was not sustainable to have this long a win streak into the playoffs. Losing with your backup QB and all these other crazy factors is easier to accept, now recover and get healthy and focused for a playoff run.

Yup, if they cant win with garbage for a team or garbage for weapons then they obviously suck. Thats the ridiculous mentality around here for as long as ive been on these boards. Like kobe Bryant said after being asked if phil Jackson won all those championships because of the talent he had .. kobe said " what do you expect him to win with?" Fn scrubs?"

Sure there are some outliers but, not everyone gets a Nick Foles performance from their back ups. The rare coaches can pull it off like Reid . Plus Foles mostly sucked until the second half of the Atlanta game in the playoffs in 2017. We obviously missed Hurts but Pickett played well enough to win on Sunday.

But even more than that, that he could do it in the first place. Kenny almost certainly can't do that unless the Steelers misused him big time. We'll just have to see if Moore can adjust, because considering how different our QBs are, we're not really set up to switch to a #2 mid game. In fact our offense isn't set up for a stationary type QB at all. But maybe he has the structure where he can set it up like his old offenses after a week of practice? We'll see.

I'm not sure Pickett is someone I would call "a stationary QB." He has pretty good speed (4.7) for a QB. He may prefer to rely on his arm more than his legs and I doubt he wanted to run much once he got hurt last Sunday. But I think he may be a little more mobile than you appear to think he is.

Yeah he’s not a stand in the pocket guy. He has some ability to move and throw outside the pocket. But with that rib injury I’m not sure how much of that he’s going to do.

I wouldn't expect any designed runs for him, but who knows ... maybe he'll tough it out and do whatever is necessary to help the Eagles get the win. Maybe he'll win over some fans that have never really been on board. Maybe next week some Hurts-hater will sign up on the EMB with a Pickett Era screen name.

I think they need to design a couple of roll outs or designed QB runs. And if not then he needs to be willing if a play breaks down. I’m not saying he needs to run for a lot but enough to keep the defense on their toes.
December 28, 2024Dec 28 Author https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2023/09/ashton-kutcher-steps-down-from-anti-child-sex-abuse-organization-after-masterson-letter How safe is Nick Sirianni? By Mike Florio Published December 28, 2024 Eagles coach Nick Sirianni is four for four when it comes to making the playoffs. And yet there’s still a sense that Sirianni isn’t a high-end NFL coach. It’s not just a media thing. Despite a 13-4 season, Sirianni has become a 100-1 afterthought in the betting for coach of the year. And it all flows from the perception that the Eagles have the most overall talent in the league. So much talent that they thrive not because of Sirianni but in spite of him. At times, he acts like a fan who won a contest to be coach for a day. For example, he jawed with folks in the crowd late in a win over the Browns. More recently, he reportedly got into something with Commanders tight end Zach Ertz that required Big Dom to intervene. It’s fair to ask whether another coach would be able to nudge this impressive collection of players over the top. On Friday, Colin Cowherd offered up an interesting take. If the Eagles lose in the first- or second-round of the playoffs, Sirianni could be out — and Bill Belichick could be in. Cowherd added that Belichick can get out of his contract with North Carolina in July. That’s not entirely accurate. As of right now, Belichick can leave with a $10 million buyout. As of June 1, the buyout drops to $1 million. So if Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is willing to plunk down $10 million (on top of Sirianni’s buyout and whatever it would cost to get Belichick), it can happen well before June. Beyond Belichick, there could be other candidates. Thanks to a Christmas Day Splash! report, we now know Pete Carroll wants to back in. Chicago, in our view, isn’t a good fit. Philadelphia could be. Others who could finish the job for a team and a fan base that is desperate to secure a bookend for the seven-year-old Lombardi Trophy include Mike Vrabel and maybe even Mike McCarthy, if the Cowboys let him walk. Regardless, coaches are judged in large part based on their ability to help a team live up to expectations. The expectations in Philly are incredibly high. Another quick and/or embarrassing postseason exit could be enough to get ownership to conclude that, in order to win another Super Bowl, another coach is needed.

Act like a Professional NFL Football Coach. If you feel the need to talk ish, don't do it to our fans, other Teams fans, or other Teams players. Just stupid. Save your childish actions and rants for the locker room/behind closed doors. I kinda wish Ertz might have knocked Nick's arse out at mid-field.

The week prior there was the incident with Jalen Carter although it was put out there like it wasn’t a big deal. So was this thing with Ertz, but if it wasn’t a big deal why did he call Ertz to apologize? Right now we have seen Carter take some bad penalties the last couple of games and CJGJ get thrown out of a game for inappropriate trash talk. Sirianni has to get his emotions under control in order to keep his team in line. Nick keeps telling the media he is boring, but he sure does find himself always having to deal with some kind of embarrassing emotional outburst from that he’s done.
December 29, 2024Dec 29 I mean, all of this stuff notwithstanding - and I'm not dismissing it as irrelevant - I'll eat my hat if he is fired. All we are seeing now is reinforcing current positions. For some, he can do little wrong. Some will support him regardless, and I am probably one of them. Some will never support him no matter what he does, short of win a Super Bowl, like it's the only kind of success there is. Time will tell which faction is correct. Of the options outlined above, I want no part of BB. I want no part of Carroll. McCarthy, are you kidding? Vrabel? I can't see it. Like I've said before, there's also a franchise credibility issue here. Let's say they pull the trigger on Sirianni after he took the team to the playoffs in his first four seasons (or, some would say, the team dragged him there). You're setting a standard that is damn near unattainable for the next man up. Philadelphia stops being a destination and becomes a poisoned chalice. Not a fair comparison, really, but for soccer fans you just have to look at a club like Manchester United as an example of what can happen then. You don't want to end up in that situation.
December 29, 2024Dec 29 Win a SB he stays Doesn't and Johnson needs to be hired while keeping Vic as DC. I'd love to see what he could design with the talent on offense.
December 29, 2024Dec 29 People are STILL suggesting that we should get rid of Sirianni? I see the cognitive dissonance is as strong in sports as it is in <things that would get me warned in this forum, you can use your imagination>. Our coach doesn't have to be a Saint. He needs to win, and that's exactly what he's doing. We've won 1 SB in the history of the franchise too, that can't be the standard just to keep his job, because everyone else failed it except Doug.
January 2Jan 2 Not letting Saquon Barkley going for the rushing record should be a fireable offense for Sirianni especially if they don't win Super Bowl because this is stupid.

Well if it's any consolation, you would have benched him after week 2, so he probably wasn't getting close to the record anyways.........
